ADVENTURE AWAITS! - Awesome experience for kayaking and seeing wildlife along the river. Great introduction to kayaking with lots of safety instruction at the start, such as practicing a kayak flip exit and learning basic paddle maneuvers. David was an amazing instructor and made sure we all felt safe and comfortable before going on the river.

Highly recommended! - Sarapiquí Outdoor Center is a gem. Tatiana and David were so friendly and helpful. The kayaking was spectacular. David is a good guide and a good teacher. Our kayaking skills are pretty basic and he made sure we had a good time while staying within our abilities. We saw many different birds and enjoyed the quiet river and forest. The fruit snack afterwards was generous and delicious! We also stayed over at one of the "glamping" huts and it was about the most restful night of our whole Costa Rica trip. The setting is charming, with rock work and a small river. There were monkeys right there in the forest. The whole setup is rustic and homey.

An unforgettable day on Sarapiqui River - I can highly recommend this great tour. I am a kayac novice and David's introduction was very good, highly professional and made me quickly feel comfortable in my kayac. We saw so many birds and other animals, we even saw a crocodile up close. David was very good in finding and pointing out the animals. After the tour I had a snack and coffee offered at their lovely place outside close to the river. If you are in the area, don't miss this tour. It is a memory of a life time.

Wonder family-friendly tour! - We had a wonderful time with our Sarapiqui Outdoor Center tour. We originally booked a kayak river tour. Upon arrival, our tour guide David was concerned that our youngest son (10) would be a little small for the kayak, and it wouldn’t be safe. He offered a whitewater rafting trip instead. None of us had ever been whitewater rafting, but David was a great guide! He provided thorough instruction, and did a great job throughout the trip keeping us safe while pointing out the amazing wildlife along the Sarapiqui River. Arturo accompanied the raft in a kayak took many pictures and videos which they emailed to us a day later. After the trip, David and Arturo provided fruit, yucca, and freshly squeezed sugar cane while they explained the many different ways the food could be prepared. After the trip, our youngest son asked how long we were on the water. When I told him we rafted for about an hour and a half, he replied that it was the best hour and a half of his life. Thank you David and Arturo!

Incredible trip & lovely family business - This trip was truly incredible! My boyfriend was more experienced than me, so I was quite scared at first, but our guide ("Bob") made me feel so at ease, he was very experienced and kind. And it was amazing to see the wildlife from this perspective, we even saw a monkey swim! Besides, he made some really nice pictures and videos for us/of us which we received for free. Also his family was really kind by the way, because (I think it was) his wife cooked a lovely meal for us and he showed us how they prepare their food, such as sugarcane. He also showed us the river from their backyard, which was a beautiful sight. Super grateful for this amazing experience! Definitely recommend!

Healing, high vibration adventure stay - We had a rented camper van with our own whitewater equipment. We were offered a Riverside campsite (4x4) or a creekside spot surrounded with spectacular jungle botanicals, toucans, frogs and salamanders. Rasta was a world class kayak guide and showed us all the great lines. Davi (the owner) fed us beautiful healing vegan foods and was gracious and Informative company. The center offers ecologically sound journeys and stays with folk that understand and value the planet and human connections. This is a hidden gem in the agricultural Caribbean regions that will be well worth the drive. Pura vida!

Swiftwater Kayaking with amazing guides! - Two friends and I, who live in Costa Rica, kayaked on a Kayak Jungle Tour with Sarapiqui Outdoor Center. David was great to work with as I was making reservations for the tour and he was very patient with all my questions. Eric and Stanley were amazing guides and taught us how to "read" the river as we paddled on swiftly moving water. Before we started the trip down the Sarapiqui River they gave us an instructional safety session - teaching us to how to do "wet exit" from the kayak. As we paddled down river we saw iguanas in the trees and a Boat-Billed Heron with her nest! After the kayak adventure we had an amazing lunch on the property and tried our hand at "squishing" sugar cane to make sugar cane juice. I would highly recommend kayaking with Sarapiqui Outdoor Center.

Best Experience Ever! - Safety was their main priority and were extremely patient with beginner kayakers! From the clear instructions and lessons, to the valuable new knowledge of the wildlife, to the personalities, to the home-cooked food, this place is one of a kind! Definitely make this place part of your trip to Costa Rica. It’s a great way to get immersed into the culture and nature of Costa Rica. Fruit was fresh, food was delicious, safety was priority, Sarapiquí River was gorgeous, and the team was amazing and friendly! This was an exhilarating yet relaxing experience! Friendly for all ages!

Best Kayaking Experience! - We had gone whitewater rafting with the folks at Sarapiqui Outdoor Center and we were so thrilled that we came back for river kayaking. We’re a family with two kids (8 and 12 years old) and we were all completely new to kayaking. We could not have asked for a better experience! When we arrived in the morning, David had already assessed river conditions and found an area that would be safe for beginners even though the river was high after heavy rains. He and his team happily took us to that spot even though it required extra driving. We could tell that David knows the river and tributaries in the whole area like the back of his hand, and that our safety was his top priority. David is a wonderful teacher and is especially great with kids. He taught us kayaking safety and technique clearly and patiently. We each practiced balance, maneuvering and how to get out of the kayak safely in a pinch. My younger son was nervous at first and David put him at ease. We spent two solid hours on the river and it was such an amazing way to experience the rainforest. David and his staff have an encyclopedic knowledge of the wildlife and spotted many kinds of birds and monkeys and a huge iguana in a tree. Gliding along the river was the ultimate way to experience the profound beauty and tranquility of the forest! Along the way, Carlos took a lot of great photos of us kayaking which we’ll treasure. When we were done, the van was there promptly to meet us. Back at the center, a delicious homemade lunch of local food was waiting for us. David and Carlos gave our kids bananas and cacao pods straight from the trees. Our kids loved eating the sweet fruit from around the cacao beans! We had an incredible experience with David and his team! They went the extra mile in every possible way to make sure we had an unforgettable day. We recommend them wholeheartedly!
