Set deep in the Costa Rican rain forests, Sarapiquí River, declared as National Patrimony, gives us the perfect blend of natural beauty and one of the best white water rafting in the country, with big waves and amazing technical rapids. After meeting with your river guide we will drive 90 minutes to the put in in where the fun begins! Your guides will explain the safety security procedures and safety equipment before embarking down the river. Then we will take the PLUNGE and start the adventure! Halfway through our journey we will “re-fuel” on the river bank and enjoy some delicious tropical fruits while soaking in the tropical surroundings. At the end of our journey, a cold drink and dry towel will await you before a short ride where you can change into dry clothes and have a delicious Typical Costa Rican Lunch.

The start of your rafting journey in Costa Rica is marked by a beautiful 1-hour ride that takes you through vast farmland abundant with papaya, pineapple, and yucca, all set against the stunning backdrop of the towering Arenal Volcano.
On reaching the commencement point, the highly trained and competent guides of Wave Expeditions will acquaint you with the safety guidelines and regulations that govern your paddling duties. Once you’ve mastered the rules and proven your familiarity with the commands, you’re all set to kick off your tour of Costa Rica.

- Participants will get wet, please dress ready to raft in bathing suit and shoes that will stay on feet. No flipflops allowed
- Not responsible for items lost or damaged on river, please do not take anything on the river that you are not willing to lose

Excellent Guides - The adventure was fabulous. Best white water rafting trip we have been on. Our guide guided us through the rapids expertly. We loved that there was very little just floating. After we finished they provided a great lunch too!

Exhilarating, thrilling say no more!! - Rafting with Wave on the Sarapique River was so exhilarating. A must do! The guides were great and kept us safe on incredible class III-IIII rapids. #waverafting

Fantastic Class III-IV Rafting with Gerald! - This was an excellent rafting trip for a family that hasn't done it before! We did the Class III-IV trip to the Sarapiqui with our 12 and 13 year old boys. There were no other kids on this trip, but it's definitely doable for 12+. There is a fair bit of paddling but your guide is likely doing all the work! We were in a boat of six plus guide - our guide Gerald was the best. He was a great conversationalist on the bus, clearly a people person who enjoys what he does. He was very enthusiastic on the river and we felt very safe with him. The ride from La Fortuna ended up taking close to two hours, as we were the first to be picked up (at Arenal Springs), and made several stops along the way, including one where the customers were quite late because they were finishing breakfast and getting coffees to go, with zero regard for the people in the bus. Gerald had to be firm with them after we waited for 15 minutes - tough for him to do but he did the right thing. The ride back from the falls only took about 1 hour and 15 minutes with all the drop offs. Lunch was a little disappointing, very little meat was given and it was very clear that only one serving of meat could be given. Fresh pineapple and watermelon was sliced up in the middle of the river and that was a very nice treat. Highly recommend this trip!

Wonderful Day of Fun - My family (46, 43, 18 and 13) as well as my mom spent a day rafting the class III and IV rapids. It was such a fun and challenging experience. The lead of our group was Gerard and our raft lead was Jude. Both were so pleasant, knowledgeable and skilled. They shared information about the river and worked hard to keep us safe. My husband and I were thrown from the raft once at the same time and Jude moved incredibly rapidly to get us back into the raft and disinfect my scrapes. The pictures that were an additional charge were wonderful and well worth the $40 cost. I would certainly do this again if given the opportunity.

AMAZING - MUST DO! - My husband and I did the white water rafting level 3/4 with Gerald in April. We had so much fun! In fact, it was our favorite activity while in Costa Rica! Gerald was AMAZING! He made me feel safe and made the whole day FUN! Thank you Gerald! Wave Rafting was our FAVORITE excursion while in Costa Rica! We would definitely recommend Wave Rafting and Gerald! We'd love to do it again! The water was nice, not cold at all. We can't say enough about the experience, the company and GERALD! A bonus is that they have a photographer the whole way to capture photos of your group, which are available to purchase at the end. We got over 100 pictures, which were all fantastic for a really reasonable price. Thank you for a great time and wonderful memories!!!

Adventurous fun experience - What an amazing experience! Gerald was so fun and made the trip that much more enjoyable. My kids had a blast for their first white water rafting experience! This was my 2nd time, and it did not disappoint. Gerald even talked us into jumping! Thanks again for a great time!!
