The transport route from La Fortuna to the river is approximately 35 to 40 minutes, once in the river. The route is divided into two sections, the first is where we will find the class 3 rapids and the second is very calm where we will find class 2. Total travel time is approximately 2 hours plus 1 hour for lunch and return to the hotel. Very important the transport is shared with other clients. Approximate total time 4 to 5 hours.

Very professional and funny rafting experience! - I was really impressed with this trip!
I was a bit confused to meet at a cooking school, but a restaurant setting was as good a place as any to start.
We bussed to the river, got in, and we were off! Our guide Tom was excellent. He was personable and funny.
The rapids were fantastic! It was my family’s first crafting experience, and Class 3 was a good place to start.
We stopped for fruit along the way, had refreshments when we were done, and headed back to the cooking school for a fantastic lunch!
Even better, a photographer followed us, and all photos were INCLUDED in the tour price!
This was a really good trip - I’d return to this outfitter.

Epic Memory! - Our first time ever rafting adventure will forever be an epic memory for my family. Thank you to "Super" Mario for an amazing experience. His knowledge and expertise helped keep a very nervous momma calm while keeping her family safe and thrilled at the same time. Mariano, shared so much information about Costa Rica's vegetation, wild life, and culture on our ride to and from the river. He also kayaked and took amazing pictures of our experience down the rapids. Freshly cut fruit was laid out on our raft during the break to share amongst my family and the guides. We ended the excursion with an authentic delicious Costa Rican lunch at a local restaurant. Core memory made on this adventure for sure. Thank you Mario, Mariano, and our driver (I forget her name) for an amazing time! Highly recommend an adventure with Maquique!

USE THIS COMPANY!!! - Mariano and William were FANTASTIC! They created such a fun environment while also keeping us safe. This was the highlight if my trip and if we went again this is the ONLY company I would book! Besides rafting, Mariano also pointed out some of the wildlife, crops, plants and customs of Costa Rica. Also included a seriously delicious meal at the end.

Rafting along the Balza River with Super Mario - With my family (children aged 12) we did the rafting tour along the Rio Balsa. They did the full walk level III-II, I joined in the second section doing only level II. We had a great time! Mario guide very attentive to everything, that the boys had their helmets, lifeguards, etc. Super fun and take care of everything. When I fell into the water, I climbed in a second and when my husband and daughter fell, so did I. Very nice experience. Highly recommended.

Great River Rafting Experience in Balsa - Best experience well worth the money spent. Fransisco, our bus guide was very informative and entertained us through the 45 mins bus journey. Our rafting guide Super Mario made sure we were safe and also enjoyed the ride. We had a wonderful experience rafting as a family across the beautiful river Basa with amazing views. We also spotted 2 sloths as a bonus. The refreshing fruit break was well planned and executed by the guides team. Got some great pictures in different spots by the talented photographers who kayaked on single boats and reached the rocks before us to capture our best moments. The tour ended with a yummy traditional Costa Rican lunch. Highly recommend the tour and the company.
