Best cooking class - This was one of our favourite experiences in Costa Rica. Our host Huberth was knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. We enjoyed touring the farm and the variety of vegetables and herbs grown here and then collecting them and cooking them. It's always amazing to see the process of growing food and the hard work that goes behind it - something we take for granted all the time. Huberth was able to take our dietary preferences in consideration and we prepared a delicious meal and enjoyed it together. Thank you for the amazing experience.

Pura Vida! - Huberth was an amazing host! His pride in his family's farm was evident as he showed us around the farm. We got to whip up a tasty concoction of sugar cane and some of the medicinal herbs growing in the garden and then learned about traditional cooking as we made chicken, rice, beans, and a salad from the garden. We even got to try some homemade chocolate for dessert.

Wonderful tour, food & garden! - Excellent tour of the garden, excellent meal. Our guide seemed excited to talk about all the different plants grown in the garden (and there were lots! Basil, stevia, cilantro, lemongrass, anise, mustard, sugarcane, salad greens among many others), and we learned a lot. We used these plants to make a juice & cook a meal afterward, which was all really satisfying to do (and the end results were delicious!). It really was the type of experience that would inspire anyone to have a big garden in the future 😄 Our guide was very friendly and did a great job explaining things and answering questions. The chef we cooked alongside with helped us perfect our tortilla-making technique, and seemed to enjoy our involvement in the cooking process. I VERY highly recommend that everyone try this tour, not just the foodies!

Highly recommend this activity if you’d like to learn a little about the local and traditional foods of Costa Rica. - Hubert Sr and Hubert Jr greeted us as we arrived and Hubert Jr conducted the tour. We left right at 4p as scheduled. We got an educational tour through their family garden. He gave us different herbs and had us guess through smell and taste what they were. We collected the herbs we needed for dinner. After the tour, we went to the pavilion where we made our own fresh sugarcane juice. Then we added the herbs we had collected and made a flavored / herbal sugarcane drink. After cleaning up, we went to the vegetable garden and collected the vegetables we needed to make a fresh salad with dinner. We returned to the house where we met mom who had everything ready for us to start preparing dinner. We chopped everything for the meal. We learned how to make chicken and rice - including all the seasonings. We then learned how to make tortillas and how to cook them up. We learned about plantains and different ways to cook them. We sliced them thin and fried them up as part of our meal. We sat down to dinner - Hubert Jr and Mom joined us. We enjoyed a very nice discussion. The entire experience was educational, fun, and very personable. We got to experience a bit of Costa Rican culture with a local family. Hubert Jr was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was very enthusiastic and proud of his heritage. When he discovered we were interested in the local wildlife, he took his time to point out the different animals and birds we saw while walking through the gardens. His English was excellent. Mom was extremely friendly as well. She didn’t speak English, but we were able to communicate well enough with Hubert Jr jumping in when needed. I highly recommend this activity if you’d like to learn a little about the local and traditional foods of Costa Rica.

Highlight of our trip! - This was an incredible and immersive experience. Learning to cook a traditional Costa Rican meal after touring the family’s organic farm and picking the fresh ingredients was awesome! Our guide spoke English very well. We cooked in their family home with his mother. It surpassed our expectations ten fold. Glad we could support local and learn about their everyday life.

Genuine Costa Rican Hospitality - Excellent opportunity to get to know a Costa Rican farming family, and delicious food dishes. Hubert speaks excellent English and knows the farm intimately. Enjoyed the walk and guessing game of the produce he picked. Made sugar cane juice, then met his mother and helped prepare lunch. I made my first tortilla! Chicken and rice, salad...we ate and chatted. I recommend for any visitor wanting Pura Vida and genuine Costa Rican hospitality.

Beautiful food and people - True Costa Rican hospitality and farm experience. Hubert is an excellent guide and host. He speaks English and is very knowledgeable about the plants grown on the farm. The sugar cane juice was lovely, the food...typical Costa Rican...was fresh and delicious. I'm ready to sautee plantains on my own now! His mother is a delight. Excellent opportunity to learn more about Costa rican food and enjoy a comfortable experience

Amazing Cooking Class - We had a fantastic evening with Huberth on his family’s farm. Walking around the farm and collecting some of the ingredients for dinner was a great experience. The vast number and diversity of what they grow on the farm was incredible. Even though it was raining, Huberth made it so enjoyable that we didn’t really notice or care about the rain. We were welcomed into their home by his mother who taught us how to make an authentic Costa Rican dinner that was absolutely delicious. Huberth was polite, friendly, knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the relaxing comfortable conversation sitting around the table while we ate. A truly wonderful experience!!

Good but overpriced - We were greeted warmly and started with a tour of the farm including medicinal garden and then shown some of the crops - some of which we picked to use later. This part was better than the cooking element which was more of a demonstration, although we did get to make tortillas. Overall it was good but overpriced for what it was.
