Exploring the area by bike was a wonderful experience - Exploring the area by bike was a wonderful experience. Crossing the river was a bit of an adventure in itself. The pleasant warmth made us forget the wet and the rain. Our guide Otto was very committed and friendly. He put us in a very good mood and he gave us a good description of the special features of the volcano and the lake. Unfortunately we had lost our sunglasses but thanks to Otto's commitment we drove back to the river in the van and luckily he found the glasses. Many thanks for this.
The photos he took are a nice reminder of the great morning.

Great way to start the day - We booked this tour last minute and glad that we did! My new hubby and I ended up getting a private tour which was amazing to be able to set our own pace.
This was by chance, and not guaranteed. The trail is good for all levels and the bikes are well maintained. They are hard tailed so be prepared for a sore butt if you’re not used to standing during bumpy spots.

Lovely mountain biking experience - The bikes were comfortable and well maintained, the guide was very friendly, and the ride was fun! We weren't sure how the river crossing would go (wear water shoes or be prepared to take off & put on shoes and socks twice) but it was a great experience! The views are beautiful.

Challenging and Beautiful Mountain Biking Experience - My husband and I ended up with a private tour by Santos on our 10-year anniversary trip because no one else signed up. We loved having our own guide and being able to set our own pace. But the tour would be fun with a group too. It was challenging, but we are not regular mountain bikers (or super young and in shape) and we completed the trek just fine. Santos was great!

Mountain biking lake Arenal - Definitely mountain biking! Was more than what we had expected but a lot of fun. Hills up and down and lots of rocks. 2 of our 4 bailed out on the way back since we were a little nervous mountain biking with the hills - we are very good bike riders - just not used to the terrain. Had a boat pick us up and met up with the rest of the group at the end. Guide - Santos - was great! Definitely recommended if you like mountain biking!

Absolute Must Do Activity - This tour was a great way to begin a first day in Fortuna/Arenal. Mauricio provided us with history and facts about Costa Rica that enabled us to appreciate the area more. The ride was challenging, yet fun and provided amazing views each step of the way. Gilroy who drove the van behind us assisted us with water if we needed! I would definitely recommend this as a must do tour on your first day visiting the Fortuna region. Pura Vida!

Best bike views in Costa Rica!! - Rolling hills, farmland, epic views of Arenal!? Amazing!! I’ve been here in La Fortuna for 3 weeks and this is probably the best thing I’ve done so far.
This company DesafÃo also has amazing mountain bikes in great shape that make going uphill smooth like butter. Santos, our guide, was amazing and made sure we were at a good pace and took water breaks. It’s hard work but worth it. Recommended for people who are in relatively good shape. You will not regret this tour.

Fun outing with great views! - Awesome! We felt like we got a great workout (but could easily be modified to suit any biking ability) and really loved the views. Our guide was fantastic and pointed out different wildlife along the way. Water bottles were provided, and we even got the option to swim in Arenal lake at the end of the trip. Bring sunblock!

Bring your own water shoes! - We didn’t make the most out of the trip but it’s somewhat our own fault.
We didn’t want to get our shoes wet because we would board a 4 hour plane in those shoes right after the bike ride, and the instruction didn’t specify that we would need water shoes
Our guide Josue is very accommodating and super knowledgeable, he made sure we enjoyed a different bike route as much as possible.
I wish the instruction was more clear so we can get the most value out of our trip.
