Highlights
  • Arenal 1968 Volcano View & Trails - The tour starts with a hotel pickup followed by a 30-minute drive to the 1968 Arenal Volcano Park, where you will start your activity, a 2.5-hour hike to the base of Arenal Volcano. The hike is fairly easy and most of it is over flat ground. The goal is to arrive at a Dry lava field from 1968 eruption (this part of the trail is rocky), see it, talk about it and give you all the history about the Arenal Volcano.

  • La Fortuna Waterfall - Afterwards, you will be driven for another 30 minutes to reach La Fortuna Waterfall. The hike to the base of the waterfall has about 500 steps (which you will need to climb back up). Once at the base, you will have some time to swim and enjoy the waterfall.

  • Arenal Hanging Bridges - You will spend about 2.5 hours hiking in a primary rainforest, where you will cross about 16 hanging bridges called the Mistico Hanging Bridges. This hike in a large forest with nothing compared to the one in the Volcano Trails, so enjoy it as much as you can….. and remember it’s a Rainforest so expect rain, and bring your rain gear.

Amazing Full Day of Adventure - This was an action pack day, starting with an approximately 4 km hike near Arenal volcano followed by a trip to the La Fortuna waterfall with swimming and ending the day at the Mistico Hanging Bridges Park. Our guide Wilbur was exceptional and extremely knowledgeable. It was also very friendly and talkative with the group. Transportation to and from the excursion was perfect and it was a great full day.

Excellent combo tour for Arenal highlights - This was a wonderful experience. Great combination of a gentle hike, some time to cool off by the amazing La Fortuna waterfall, and then the hanging bridges to top it all off. Great way to spend a day. Our guide Diego was extremely knowledgeable and had a sharp eye for wildlife. I don’t think we would have seen any of the animals he pointed out to us if we were on our own. And he taught us a lot about the history of the area and geology around volcanoes. Our kids loved it, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to CR.

Full day experience, totally worth it! - This was a great activity. Our guide was knowledgeable and spoke English well. She explained the history of the volcano, pointed out a lot of plants and wildlife, and prepared us well for each of the 3 activities. The views of the volcano were spectacular. We brought swim suits and towels and were able to change clothes in order to swim by the waterfall. I will warn you that this is a physically strenuous day. The path up and down the volcano is doable with sneakers (that's what we wore). Hiking shoes would have been preferred, had we brought them. It is 300 steps down to the waterfall, and then back up again. The path for the hanging bridges was more gentle. I would not recommend this activity for anyone traveling with older parents. I'm in pretty good shape, but my muscles were achy the next day!

Great combindation. - This was a great combo. Valeria was a great guide - cheerful and informative. The best bit was swimming in the waterfall - I could not believe how powerful the waterfall was - very impressive. I loved the hike to the volcano as it was lovely seeing the scenery. The hanging bridge were great for wildlife - we saw both monkeys and snakes. Long day but well worth it.
