Worth an hour of your time in Kyoto - Better than I expected. Fun for both adults and kids. Good balance of history, show and tell, and interaction.

Fun but a Bit Pricey - The tour is pretty cheesy but we did learn a lot about ninjas and samurai. Overall it was fun and a good activity for a rainy day. Our tour had a lot of people (probably because it was in fact a rainy day), so it was sometimes hard to hear the tour guide and it was pretty crowded when we were throwing the ninja stars. The place where you dress up in the samurai outfits to take awesome photos is actually a slightly different spot and they give you a QR code with directions. Just FYI because we weren't sure if everyone in the group understood where to go. We didn't think this was a must to do unless you have kids and it was a bit expensive for a fairly short tour. But we didn't regret going.

Samurai and Ninja Museum - short but nice tour - First, it took quite some time to find the place! ;) Friendly, experienced and knowledgeable guides. Beautiful historical exhibits (swords, armor etc.) and the last, but not least - shuriken throwing and wearing the samurai armor!

Ok, but not missing much if you don't go - Would of been OK if we could actually hear the guide. The place is far too small for the amount of groups going through. It just felt like they were there to line their pockets and not give much in return. The place is quite old and run down as well.

Too expensive, the many good reviews are incomprehensible! - The museum is very small. In the first room there are some beautiful samurai armor on display and in the second room there are samurai swords on display. There are posters/photos with information everywhere, but you hardly have time to read them. The tour is guided. The presenter made it interesting and you learn a lot about the samurai and their history. The tour is in English and was difficult to understand due to the strong accent. Once the presentation is finished, we move on to the next room. For example, you don't have time to tell the children what they heard. There is also no time to look at other objects or read anything about them, because the next group is already coming. During the Ninja Experience you get plastic ninja stars and can throw them onto a Styrofoam wall. That's all. The equipment you are allowed to put on at the end is the cheapest imitation, and you also get a plastic sword. The whole thing took about 45 minutes.
