Great experience - Our tour guide, Hide with Magical Trips, was incredible. So friendly and knowledgable. The man who gave us our tea ceremony was Haruki and he was so sweet and entertaining. This was a really great tour experience!

Wonderful Tour - The entire morning was a revelation in all the best ways. Hikari offers so much more than what you can get from a guide book. We were given many insights and experiences such as the Shinto practice of ema (writing a wish or prayer), and the details involved in temple and shrine designs. The morning tour was finished with a tea ceremony and that instructor was equally gracious and insightful. We had no idea how much was involved in the ritual of making and serving the tea. This is a tour I can recommend with enthusiasm.

Great experience - Starting location was easy to find. Our guide was punctual. She gave us all kinds of history and context to what we were seeing that we’ve been able to apply to other sights around Japan. She translated our fortunes from the shine (I had excellent fortune), and she was lovely to chat with between destinations. Plus, she was an excellent photographer for the group. Highly recommend!

Must do tour! - Akiko and Juse were wonderful guides. They shared the history of each shrine and area, providing enough information that one felt knowledgeable. We were the only members on the tour so we’re lucky to have a private guide. The tour ended with a tea ceremony which provided historical information and added a prefect end. We would definitely book with Magical Trip again!!!

Nice tour of a quaint part of Kyoto - Nice tour of an interesting part of Kyoto. Being with the tour guide makes the shrines far more interesting. They take a couple of nice photos of you (but not so many it turns into a photo shoot) and share them free of charge. Hikari was a very good tour guide with excellent English. She was extremely helpful; we mentioned a type of sake we were looking for and she took it upon herself to phone a few stores to check if they had it. Above and beyond. Recommended.

Rainy Day Experience - Despite it being a rainy day, we were able to walk through the beautiful Gion district and learn about Shinto and Buddhist traditions while visiting shrines and temples. There were so many great views of Kyoto! Our guide, Hide, was very friendly and offered to take photos of our group. After our walk, the Tea Ceremony was very educational and fun. It was a good experience overall.

Okay - The tour took us to places that were on our list but we had not seen yet. However the tour went by too quickly at Kiyomizu-dera. Wish we could have stayed longer. The tea ceremony was interesting. However, we were combined with another group and it made it feel odd. Tour does not take you back to where you started but we wanted to stay in the area of the tea ceremony so that ended up being ok.
