We LOVED this experience! - My 78 year old mother and 11 year old daughter did this together with me. A three generational cultural experience. Staff were friendly, patient, and helpful with getting us all ready together. **A little tip** they weren't busy because it was a bit drizzly weather. Buy yourself a CLEAR umbrella so to let the light through but you don't get wet. Your photos will have gorgeous soft atmospheric light. The streets will be far less busy too. This was a core memory that we three will never forget. Arigato

Treasured Keepsake - I purchased this for my friends' (couple) first trip to Japan. They said they will treasure this photos. Incase especially grateful to the staff for suggesting Gion Komori for a location to take pictures. It was close to walk to, and the location was simply beautiful!!!

Makes for great pictures! - I went into this thinking that it was a touristy thing, but there were a lot of locals who appeared to be in Wedding parties. That said, the kimonos get pretty nice, but that is not what your reservation gets you. When we went, for my reservation, I had about a dozen kimonos to choose from. They were nice, but kind of plain. The photo they have in the advertisement is pretty accurate. I am also a big guy, so that is what they had that would fit me. To get the "samurai" kimono, there was a bit of an upcharge, like 150%. I have to note, none of the other customers, that I saw, went this route. My wife had a similar experience, not because of fit, but because she wanted something nicer. She looked really great. We got a lot of compliments from tourists and locals alike. Out the door, I had to pay an extra 150% of the original booking. Be forewarned. They recommended the upgrade, but they weren't pushy about it. Fitting went smooth. They allowed us in early, and got us fitted in about an hour. It was a Saturday, so as we were leaving, they said they were closing at 5:30, so please be back before 5:00. I don't think that was in the original schedule. Be warned, the real deal kimono is several layers of clothing, and can get hot...and the sandals are not very comfortable for long walks.

Add this to your itinerary before visiting Cup of Museum - Add this experience when visiting The Cup Of Noodles museum. This is a, “Must experience,” and doable in 2 hours. All of The kimonos comes already made. What we ended up doing was customizing the kimono to our size. Customizing the kimono is easily done by cutting the kimono once and hemming the parts that was cut. Most of the time was spent choosing what we wanted. You know how us women can be! So many choices to choose from!! I booked this experience the night before and was able to get an appointment for my sister and I. We had ended up choosing Yutaka instead of the kimono and couldn’t be more thrilled. You should visit The Cup of Noodles museum in Yokohama; do both the exhibitions on how to make noodles and then designing your cup and personalize the flavors; explore the rest of the museum, walk down the street to The Red Brick Building for an indoor farmer market, then hop on the bus for 45 mins to Koto City for the kimono experience. My sister and I did this and enjoyed the itinerary very much. After the kimono experience, we headed back to our hotel. It was the perfect itinerary and day spent well. I do recommend doing the kimono experience first thing in the morning so you can enjoy wearing the kimono outfit you just made. And then head over to the Cup of Noodles museum. Here is a summary of the process I went through so you can get an idea. 1. Directions and address to place was easy to navigate. 2. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted and was instructed to freely pick out what we wanted to try on. - the kimonos are tagged with different colors and on the wall, there’s a sign with pricing for the colored tag. - we got to try on everything we picked out. 3. Once we selected what we wanted, next came the measuring and fitting. That was a really quick process. 4. After fitting, we got to cut our measurements. It was basically a straight cut across the waist of the kimono 👘. 5. Sewing was done quick and efficient. Instead of the typical sewing machine or sewing by hand, we used the heat and bond method to hem our yukata. - after hemming, we put on yukata. They even gave us an elastic band that was used to hold the bottom piece of the yukata. 6. Once this was completed, we got to choose what colored obi belt, stash, and string. 7. Next came the grand finale, taking pictures. It rained the night we book the experience so we stayed indoors to take pictures. It was still very fun. Our host had such an amazing and joyful personality that she made everything fun. 8. Last step - payment. Payment was accepted via card and yen. After payment was done, our host bagged our yukata and when asked, she very happy to show us how to properly fold our yukata. She even showed us the simplest way as well since the proper way had many steps to remember. Our host was very patient with us and even allowed us to video all the steps to properly dress ourselves in our yukata. Overall, it was a great experience.

Fun dressing up - We enjoyed our experience. Yes, in the price you only have a set number of Kimonos (25) to choose from but that was fine. All still lovely colours and if you want you can pay more for more choice but I couldn’t see a huge difference and I really loved the one I chose. Definitely worth doing! We loved it

It was alright - The problem that I had here is that they don’t allow time for hair and makeup with this reservation! I figured it was extra charge and I was totally ok paying extra for it. But they didn’t have time to do my makeup which was very inconvenient for me! Everything nice is extra charge! Nicer kimono, purse, hair and makeup. Also it is a 10% (TEN) to pay by credit card in there. So take cash if you don’t want to be ripped off!

FIASCO - The taxi brought us to the address. But what we found was a kimono shop on the Ground Floor. Our name was not included in the List. The name included in our time slot is Rosario Castro with 5 other friends. There was no 5th floor rental kimono . We did see the Yasaka Shrine on our right beside a temple entrance. Next time you should provide a picture of the building shop or a better map. We ended doing the rental w/ another shop. and paid Y 3,000 each with no reservation

It took more than hour to... - It took more than hour to be done and it was a bit chaotic. Would not recommend as it is not a good value for the money.
