Additional Information

-Navigate a hidden trail to Fushimi Inari Shrine.
Instead of using the Fushi-inari station, we initiate the tour from Tofukuji station to enter the Fushi-inari shrine from the rear of the main entrance.

-Uncover a concealed bamboo grove.
We will encounter a pristine bamboo grove and a tiny Inari shrine kept away from the sight of regular tourists. Maneuvering through the main entrance of Fushimi Inari can be challenging due to the crowd. However, our pathway through the hills will grant you a unique vantage point to see Fushimi Inari, distant from the masses.

-Discover urban areas after enjoying a magnificent scenic view from Fushimi Inari’s peaks.
From this point forth, our exploration will shift towards tourist sectors en route to the mountain’s apex. The actual tour routes may fluctuate but we will conclude near the vicinity of the main shrine.

  • This hike is not super difficult, approximately 7km in total. But it is not a simple walk and does take some effort. We would not recommend it for people who have trouble walking or are not in a regular condition. We take regular stops and can do extra stops if needed.
  • As the ground can be slippery, you need to come wearing shoes with good grip.
  • There may be mosquitoes and bugs as the group will hike in the mountain, so we strongly recommend to wear long sleeve shirt and long pants.
  • The itinerary for this tour includes some locations that are not accessible by a wheelchair or stroller.

Fushimi Inari Hidden Path - The path through forest was clear and once in the Fushimi Inari we got a route that seemed like we are doing the inverse of what all people were doing. Duncan was very friendly and explained about every place that we arrived.

Great way to explore, hike and learn - Very knowledgeable guide, great path off the normal tourist route, beautiful trees and natural bamboo forest, and many shrines along the way that are used but the monks. A great experience.

Inari througg the woods :) - Such an amazing experience. Nick, our host, was very knowledgeable and learned a lot about the traditions and history about the Inari shrine from him We started at 9 am sharp and we took a route behind the mountain where there literally no people and was very picturesque. The hike is relatively easy and we stopped at multiple places for photos and Nick also stopped at major spots and explained the significance of them. We where a group of 7 and as a solo traveller i really enjoyed talking to a new group of people. Fushimi inari is a major attraction in Kyoto and hence very crowded usually. So really recommend this experience through the woods rather than the usual busy route.

Great hike! - Great hike without the crowds. It was also very informative. There were not many people in our group so it felt very personal. The pace was fast with some steep sections so would tell others to be somewhat in shape. Hikari was a wonderful guide!

Peacefull and beautifull nature trip - Our trip with Nobu through the japanese forrest was amazing! She showed us parts of the Inari Shrine without any tourists around (except us of course). It was so peacefull and she knew everything about the area. She was really well prepared and took care of our individual needs. She even gave us a great recommandation for a sushi restaurant in the area. I absolutely would recommend this trip to my friends!

Into Fushimi Inari without the crowds - Excellent tour by Hikari. We really appreciated the tranquil hike into the back side of the Fushimi Inari shrine area. She shared knowledge about Japanese history and Shinto mythology throughout the trek. Would highly recommend.
