A Mindful Journey with an Exceptional Guide - This has to be the most zen tour experience ever! The pace was perfectly balanced, neither too fast nor too slow. While there were a few small hills to climb, there were plenty of opportunities to rest before ascending. Our tour guide, Josh, was AMAZING!! I've taken many tours across various cities, but he absolutely stood out as the best. He was kindness, extensively knowledgeable, has a passion for sharing Japanese culture, and genuinely desired for us to have a wonderful experience. His hospitality truly elevated the tour. We took a 40-minute train ride to the meeting point at Saga-Arashiyama Station's north side, where our small group of just five people gathered, allowing for a more personalized experience. We began with a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, admiring homes, architecture, cultural significance, and history. The terrain was mostly flat, and Josh ensured we had ample room and time for capturing photos, even offered to take family pictures at the temples and forest. The gardens were beautiful and serene. Our daughter learned to write a few Japanese words from Josh too. He was so mindful of the group's experience. Along the way, we enjoyed delightful stops for ice cream, souvenir shopping, meditation, and more. This is undoubtedly one of the most well-thought-out tours I've experienced in a long time. The highlight was an amazing lunch introducing us to unique Japanese cuisine dishes I never knew existed. By the end, I was delightfully stuffed, unable to finish everything – the cucumber salad was my absolute favorite. As a vegetarian, I appreciated that the meal was not reduced to bare minimums. I highly recommend booking a tour with Josh as your guide. It was the highlight of my stay in Kyoto, a truly mindful journey that left me feeling rejuvenated and enriched. THANK YOU so much!!

a gorgeous tour with some very serene sights (even in the busiest places!) - Amazing tour! Peco took us to some really lovely hidden gems, including two gorgeous gardens we wouldn't have otherwise seen. And the lunch was perfect -- one of the food highlights of my trip so far, honestly. Peco was a great guide and took wonderful photos for us so we could focus on the sights. Thank you, Peco!!

Beautiful, peaceful gardens - Our guide, Peco, was excellent. Fun and informative with good level of English. Gardens were the highlight, very beautiful and peaceful. Time and place chosen carefully to avoid large tourist crowds, as much as possible. Lunch - booked well in advance - was fabulous at Zen temple. Walking speed was good, with time for pausing and 'being' in some beautiful spots.

True local experience — and lots of fun! - SO fun!!! Kana is amazing!!! Do this tour. You will get a much better experience then if you just go to the bamboo forest. Much more of real local experience — with the kindest guide and all kinds of great helpful real local info. You will not be disappointed.

Stunning Gardens and Beautiful Tour - This tour took us to so many beautiful locations including the Arashiyama bamboo forest. In addition to the bamboo forest, we were guided through so of the most stunning and peaceful zen gardens that you don’t want to miss. Our guide Hiroko was so kind, knowledgeable and fun to be around. She made our tour so enjoyable and provided us with so much great information. The traditional lunch that was included was very good and such a unique overall experience. This tour has a lot of walking, but even so, it was a very relaxing experience with the locations we visited and the amount of time we had at each stop. This is a tour you don’t want to skip!

Not to be missed! Just beautiful! - It was stunning - exactly what I was hoping for from my trip to Kyoto and its surrounds! Arashiyama is just beautiful - not to be missed on your trip to Japan. My guide Tea was fantastic, he was a very knowledgeable guide and not just about the Arashiyama area and the beautiful gardens, shrines and temples. This is one visit you should not skip!
