Additional Information

Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, known as the oldest officially recognized wildlife sanctuary in Africa, spans a vast area of 96000 hectares. It serves as a habitat for the African Big 5, Wild Dogs, Cheetahs, among other creatures.

In the 1960s, this park was instrumental in saving Rhinos from the brink of extinction when the population fell to less than a hundred. The southern part of the park, known as Umfolozi, previously served as a personal hunting estate for King Shaka.

Besides the captivating natural beauty and sounds, the park also holds several intriguing historical details. All our guides bring considerable experience from their fields to make sure each visitor’s Full-Day Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park Safari is an unforgettable journey.

Unforgettable safari tour with 1001 pictures - We had an amazing trip with a great guide named Lindo. An experienced and nice guy with an eagle eye for all the wild. Because of him we have seen some more elephants and snakes. Lindo gave lots of information about all the animals and game reserve we were in. He took time to wait if someone wanted to take good pictures, so that was nice. We definitely recommend Lindo as a tour guide! That’s for the great tour 🙏🏼

Book a tour with Arno! - We were picked up very punctually and then drove to the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park for a full day safari. We went with another group that had very little interest in nature and the animals. Nevertheless, the guide took a lot of time to pass on his vast knowledge. It was very interesting and incredibly entertaining. We had a lot of fun pronouncing the German animal names. So if anyone is looking for a guide who can convey the interesting facts with a generous portion of humor: Book a tour with Arno. We had an unforgettable experience thanks to him.

Outstanding service and customer support - Thank you to Bev and her team at Heritage Tours. We received tremendous support and assistance from her in planning for our trip. Our group of friends had a number of special needs and requests, and Bev worked with each of us to accommodate those. When our cruise ship couldn't dock in Richard's Bay for our arranged pick-up, she sarranged for our driver to go on to Durban to pick us up, as our ship was hoping to dock there as an alternative. Unfortunately my group of eight was unable to complete our scheduled four-day safari because the bad weather prevented our ship from docking. Therefore, I can't write about the safari experience itself. I can testify to the outstanding service and support we received in planning and later in the cancellation of our trip. Because we had such great support in this aspect of the trip, I am sure that the actual experience would have been equally wonderful.

A great safari experience - We had a great day on this game drive. We saw lots of animals, including a cheetah, elephants, rhino, giraffe, buffalo, impala, warthogs and several other species. Our guide, Siya, was excellent. The open vehicles were comfortable and gave great views on all sides. A fantastic experience.

Excellent tours with Jabu - We also did the Eastern Shores day tour (Cape Vidal) in the wetland and it was only after a couple of tours with guides of Hluhluwe wildpark itself that we realised how lucky we were to have Jabu for our tours with Heritage. Vast knowledge of animals and the parks. If you are a birder, ask for Jabu! He knew to name all the birds we saw, loads. Eagle-eyed, and all of the sounds he made to call birds or appease mammals were also entertaining and hilarious at times. Unforgettable experiences, we would advise to do as many tours as you can, every time is different and you might not return to South Africa so make the most of it! Mind you, the vehicles are not the most comfortable in general and are not as luxury as of some of the others. The second tour all rows had footbenches which was an improvement to the first tour vehicle that did not. Food and drink were good, though we expected wine for our iMfolozi full day, as we had wine on the full day to Cape Vidal for lunch. So our tip to Heritage is wine for every lunch 😀
