Highlights
  • Kvamsøy, Kvam - Kvamsøy is home to a meteorological station operated by the Meteorological Institute, which transmits weather data to the global community four times daily from a synoptic station. Situated at Austerhaugen, the station is accompanied by a functioning small beacon atop the hill.

There are numerous ancient burial mounds on both Kvamsøy and Tjuvholmen, with archaeological finds from the Bronze Age and Iron Age, including parts of a bronze axe, among others.

  • Herandsholmen - The residences on Herandsholmen are now recognized as cozy, historically significant gems, nestled beautifully in the core of the Hardangerfjord. Herandsholmen is available for hire for large groups and gatherings.
  • Botnen - Nestled at the terminus of the Fyksesund fjord, Botnen is an ancient hamlet surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.
What's Included

  • Floating suit to stay buoyant
  • Goggles supplied for clear underwater vision

Additional Information

The journey traverses the Hardangerfjord to the ancient commerce hub of Herandsholmen, continuing north across the fjord to Fyksesund, a spellbinding scenic arm of the Hardangerfjord.

Fyksesund is the sole arm of the Hardangerfjord that lacks a roadway to its innermost stretch. The concluding 5 km of the 10 km fjord winds between sharp mountainsides to the road-less aged settlement of Botnen at the fjord’s terminus.

Join us for a thrilling RIB tour - the fastest boat ride available! Along the way, your driver and guide will pause a few times to allow the extraordinary landscape to cast its spell and share fascinating information about the fjord and its former inhabitants. If luck is on our side, even porpoises might make an appearance in the waters.

Multiple stops near the shoreline are made during the journey to take in the local flora and fauna and life on the fjord. Having a camera on hand is recommended.

Better than we expected - We don't usually do powered boats. Kayaks are more our style. But Ørien was a fantastic guide and it felt like a private tour with all the attention we received. Beautiful day, beautiful fjords, good info from Ørien. Short and sweet, would definitely recommend.

Rain makes falls - Nice rainy weather created the perfect conditions for proper showers under the amazing falls of this little fjord and its lost village.

Great way to visit a fjord - This RIB trip is most certainly worth the investment. Besides the thrill of speeding over the pristine fjord waters the owner gives really interesting information about the regions history and see waterfalls up close. Nice warm provided suites, beans and goggles keep you warm and dry. Special request can also be made, my kids loved the speed and going through the waves, and the owner will accommodate (most) of them. We would most definitely do this again on our next vist.
