• Kumbhalgarh Fort - Situated to the north of Udaipur amidst the wilderness, Kumbhalgarh stands as the second most significant fortress after Chittorgarh in the Mewar region. Nestled within the Aravali Ranges, the fort was constructed in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha. Due to its remote location and challenging terrain, the fort remained unconquered. The fort’s massive wall extends approximately 36 kilometers and is broad enough to accommodate eight horses side by side. Maharana Fateh Singh restored the fort in the 19th century.

Once inside, take a leisurely walk to appreciate the fort’s impressive outer walls. Its remarkable design is both astonishing and ingenious. Clearly, this was a fort built for warfare, always prepared for battle.

From this vantage point, one can easily envision “ranks upon ranks of loyal warriors descending the hillside, ready for combat. If you listen closely, you might still hear the faint echoes of clashing armor, the neighing of horses, and above it all, the spine-tingling trumpet of a charging elephant.”
