- Petronas Twin Towers - Standing at 451.9 meters, the stunning Petronas Twin Towers are a globally recognized symbol of modern Malaysia. They are the centerpiece of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) development, which includes landmarks like the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Suria KLCC shopping mall, luxury hotels, a mosque, and the beautifully landscaped KLCC Park. Visitors can explore the Skybridge on the 41st Floor and the Viewing Deck on the 86th Floor. The Skybridge, connecting the two towers at Levels 41 and 42, is the world’s highest two-story bridge.
- Istana Negara - Istana Negara, or the National Palace, serves as the official residence of the King of Malaysia. This grand structure, located on Jalan Duta, became the National Palace in November 2011, replacing the former palace on Jalan Istana. It features 22 domes, with the largest reaching a height of 40 meters. Note: Visits are restricted to the exterior.
- Malaysian Houses of Parliament - The Malaysian Houses of Parliament is a complex where the Malaysian Parliament convenes. Situated in the Lake Gardens of Kuala Lumpur, it is near the Malaysian National Monument.
- National Monument - The National Monument was erected to honor those who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom, especially during the nation’s fight against communism. The grounds feature one of the world’s largest free-standing bronze sculptures, created in 1966 by Felix de Weldon, who also designed the renowned Iwo Jima monument in Washington DC.
- National Textile Museum - The National Textiles Museum showcases a unique collection of clothing, accessories, and textiles. It includes four main galleries: Pohon Budi Gallery, Pelangi Gallery, Teluk Berantai Gallery, and the Ratna Sari Gallery.
- Merdeka Square - On August 31, 1957, the Union Jack was lowered at Dataran Merdeka to signify Malaysia’s independence from colonial rule, hence the name Dataran Merdeka, meaning ‘Independence Square’. Historically, the square hosted parades, cricket matches, and significant events. Today, this historic heart of KL is preserved with manicured lawns, terraces, and a fountain. Adjacent to Dataran Merdeka is the Royal Selangor Club, a mock-Tudor building with a fascinating history. The 100-meter high flagpole at Dataran Merdeka is among the tallest in the world.
- Music Museum - The Music Museum in Kuala Lumpur opened on August 1, 2015, in a colonial-era building on Jalan Raja, facing Dataran Merdeka in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This elegant building was constructed in 1919 as the KL branch of the Chartered Bank.
- Sultan Abdul Samad Building - A prominent and distinguished landmark of KL, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building remains a captivating attraction amidst the city’s evolving skyline. Built in 1897, it was named after the reigning monarch of the time. This stately structure served as the government administrative building during the British era. Made entirely of brick, it features a Mahometan or Neo-Saracenic style with a grand porch, elegant arches, gleaming copper domes, and a 41.2-meter high clock tower. The building houses a Tourist Information Centre.
- Malayan Railway Administration Building - The Railway Station and Administration Building is one of Malaysia’s most beautiful old structures, showcasing exquisite Moorish architecture.
- National Mosque (Masjid Negara) - Masjid Negara is one of the city’s most distinguished landmarks, featuring a unique star-shaped dome and a 73-meter high minaret. The National Mosque is located near the KL Lake Gardens. Visitors are advised to dress modestly when visiting the mosque, with women required to wear headscarves. Those interested in Islamic arts can visit the Islamic Arts Centre, which overlooks the mosque.
- The River of Life - The River of Life (ROL) is a seven-year initiative led by the Government of Malaysia to transform the Klang River into a vibrant and livable waterfront with significant economic value. Covering eight rivers with a total length of 110 kilometers, this project is divided into three major components.
- Jamek Mosque - Jamek Mosque, officially known as Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, is one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest mosques. It is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers and can be accessed via Jalan Tun Perak. Designed by Arthur Benison Hubback and built in 1909, Masjid Jamek served as Kuala Lumpur’s main mosque. The mosque features Moorish architecture.
- Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom - Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom is one of two outlets by Beryl’s, a renowned chocolate brand. The main attraction here is chocolate. Beryl’s offers a wide variety of chocolates made from the finest Ghana cocoa beans. Visitors can sample many types of chocolates for free and choose from over 100 chocolate varieties to purchase as gifts or for personal enjoyment. Beryl’s creativity has led to chocolate variants unique to Malaysia, such as Chili Chocolate, Durian Chocolate, Green Tea Chocolate, and chocolates made from various fruits.
