  • Ancient City of Ephesus - After greeting, we will have 20 mins. Drive to Ephesus area. Ephesus (Rev. 2:1-7), major port city on the Aegean, was the commercial, political, and religious center of all of Asia Minor. After a lunatic completely burned the Temple of Diana (Artemis) on the night, that Alexander the Great was born in 356 B.C. The Ephesians worked for 120 years to complete a magnificent reconstructed temple, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The city became part of the Roman Empire in the second century B.C. As a Roman capital of Asia Minor, Ephesus boasted a population approaching 250,000 people. The Apostle Paul’s first visit to Ephesus was brief—during his second missionary tour (Acts 18:19-21). His second visit lasted about three years—during his third missionary tour (Acts 19:1 to 20:31). Luke’s account of the worship of Diana appears in Acts 19:34-35. The Great Theatre (stadium) mentioned in Acts 19:29-31 could seat 25,000 people. Walk the marble-paved street with grooves made by chariot wheels. See the Fountain of Trojan, the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre.Visit the Chapel of the Virgin Mary (Double Church), where the Third Ancient Council convened.
  • Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles away from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council on 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared there as a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed there.
  • The Basilica of Saint John - After Lunch break near Ephesus in a local restaurant we drive to St. John’s Basilica, it is believed that the evangelist St. John had spent his last years in the region around Ephesus and buried in the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill.

A day to remember - This trip was one of the highlights of our holiday. It was so much better than a group trip because we were able to spend our time exactly as we chose. We never felt we were rushing to keep up with a group.and were able to stop and have rests and refreshments as we pleased. We could take a bit longer to have a closer look at things that caught our eye and pop into shops if we wanted. As soon as we were ready to move on from each place there was no hanging around on a coach waiting for latecomers. Our tour guide was excellent. He was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. As soon as we left the hotel he started telling us about things we saw on the journey and in addition to all the historical information he shared lots of fascinating facts about the plants and trees of the area. He also took lots of photos of us using our camera and had some great spots for lovely pictures. All the places we visited were amazing and the only time we had to queue was for Mary's House. Due to long lines there the staff in the house were rushing people along so unfortunately there was no time to stand inside and reflect and soak up the atmosphere . However this was not within the control of our tour guide and he took extra trouble to make sure we had plenty of time to pause in the gardens. We were collected from our hotel foyer and brought back at the end of the day. There was only a slight difference in price between this private tour and going with a group and it was worth every penny. Thank you Vistor

The Roman ruins are extremely impressive. Mary's house should not be missed. - Our guide scheduled our visit to the sites to avoid crowds. We were impressed at the professional attitude and knowledge of the guide and çoncern of our interests. The van was first class and comfortable. Less costly that a ship tour and better on every scale.

Amazing Biblical Tour of Ephesus - Emre was our guide, and he was outstanding. His knowledge of Biblical, Greek, Roman and Ottoman history was extraordinary. The history of Mary’s house, evolution of the city of Ephesus, life of apostles John and Paul was covered in great detail. A bonus stop was at a forth generation UNESCO family Stone Pottery Facility. Emre recommended an authentic Turkish restaurant for lunch and our group of six thoroughly enjoyed it. First class tour using comfortable, air conditioned van that lasted six hours and seemed like half of that. From the moment we left the ship, we were engaged in a very informative journey. Emre was willing to spend more time if we so desired. Highest recommendation!!!

Very good tour with the awesome guide Özgun! - We booked our private tour. They picked us up at our hotel. We drove with a great bus (with airconditioning) to Mary’s house, Ephesus and St. John. Our tour guide was very friendly. He told us a lot of historic facts about all those old buildings, (sometimes 2000 years old!) and told us Biblical information. It was wonderfull to see and walk through the remains of the city. Özgun already had all the entree tickets of the sightseeing, so we did not have to wait in the line. It was all inclusive. All the information we got was customized to our wishes and personall interests. We also get some free time between the stops. We really recommend to book this private tour; it’s absolutely worth your money!

A great experience at a cost equal or less than the big bus ship tour. - Our guide, Mr Inan, was knowledgeable and got us into the high tourist traffic areas before the rest of the crowds. The van was very comfortable and well maintained. A great experience.

A comprehensive tour - Our Tour guide EMRE gave us a very comprehensive summary, considering the wide history of Ephesus. The research done was obvious. He was well acquainted with the facts. He was patient and questions were satisfactorily answered. The sites visited made his guiding compelling. There was never a dull moment. Would definitely recommend him highly. We were safely and comfortably transported by our driver.

I would return to do another tour with Melih - This tour was the highlight of our whole trip to Turkey. Melih was a fantastic guide - his knowledge on the Bible and combining that with the history books was amazing! If I'm lucky enough to return to Turkey one day to do the tour of the 7 churches of Revelation, I hope to do that tour with Melih. The way in which he's able to take the Bible and put it in context with what the history books tell us is phenomenal. We have come to learn that drivers in Turkey do not always make you feel very safe as a passenger, but our driver was great! We did not feel unsafe on the road a all.
