- Ancient City of Ephesus - This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities globally. It is renowned for the Odeon, where music concerts were held, the Domitian Temple, one of the first temples dedicated to a human, the Celcus Library, the third-largest library of ancient times, and the Amphitheatre, one of the world’s largest, seating 24,000 people, where St. Paul preached to the Ephesians. Visitors can also explore Marble Street, Roman Baths, Fountains, Temples, Agora, Love House, Public Toilets, and the Terrace Houses (optional), known for their stunning mosaics and wall paintings.
- Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - This pilgrimage site for Christians is where Mary is believed to have spent her last 10 years with John the Apostle. Pope Paul VI visited in 1967, unofficially confirming its authenticity, followed by Pope John Paul II in 1979 and Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. The location was identified based on the visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich, a German nun who described it in detail to writer Clemens Brentano. Her descriptions led to the discovery of a building matching her vision in 1891, prompting archaeological work that allows us to visit Mary’s House today.
- The Basilica of Saint John - It is believed that St. John the Evangelist spent his final years near Ephesus and was buried on the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill, with his tomb located under the central dome of the basilica.
- The Temple of Artemis - Dedicated to Artemis, the Greek goddess and twin of Apollo, this ancient temple was built around 650 BC on a site sacred to the Anatolian Mother Goddess, Cybele. Financed by the wealthy king of Lydia, it was constructed on marshy ground to prevent earthquake damage. Over time, it has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to natural disasters.
