- Mechrey Floating Village - You will be greeted by our guide and driver at your hotel’s lobby (choose between morning or afternoon tour) then we’re heading to Mechrey floating village. The journey passes beautiful countryside before we embark a private sheltered boat to explore Tonle Sap Lake. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and is also an ecological hot spot that was designated as a UNESCO biosphere in 1997. The boat excursion takes us passing floating school, mangroves, floating houses which animated by some fishing activities. Our tour guide will explain you about Tonle Sap ecosystem and witness how life works in the floating community, and we stop to see floating crocodile farm, souvenirs shop if it interests you before we disembark and return hotel.

The half-day journey guides you through Cambodia’s picturesque rural landscapes, adorned with coconut palms, cattle, water buffalo, and agricultural endeavors, until you reach the boarding point at Mechrey village. The boat excursion glides smoothly through the canal to the Mechrey floating village, a lesser-known tourist destination in the majestic Tonle Sap. Here, you can witness the lively fishing and trading actions by locals using their small boats and understand how community life is intertwined with the lake’s resources. On the way back to Siem Reap, a stop at Puok Silk Farm is an option without extra cost.
NOTE: Please be aware that during the dry season, the water levels are low, but the boat tour is still available, enabling you to see all the sights.
