Highlights
  • Phare, The Cambodian Circus - Siem Reap’s most unique, authentic top-rated evening entertainment.
More than just a circus, Phare performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern. The young circus artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm, and talent.

Phare artists are students and graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak’s (www.phareps.org) vocational training center in Battambang. The association was formed in 1994 by 9 young men coming home from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. They were greatly helped during that time by an art teacher using drawing classes as therapy and wanted to share this new skill among the poor, socially deprived and troubled youngsters in Battambang. They founded an art school and public schools followed to offer free education. A music school and theatre school were next and finally, for the kids who wanted more, the circus school. Today more than 1,200 pupils attend the public school daily and 500 attend the alternative schools. Phare Ponleu Selpak also has extensive outreach programs, trying to help with the problems highlighted in their own tales.

Phare The Cambodian Circus offers these students and graduates somewhere to hone their skills and a place to earn a decent wage. Money that will take them out of poverty and give them self-respect and freedom.

You must go! - Such a wonderfully engaging evening. I’m not even a big fan of the circus but I couldn’t recommend this enough! Such a great cause too. The food onsite was delicious.

One of my favorite things in Siem Reap - This was the fastest hour of my life. The circus show was so entertaining that the time flew by. The entire thing was so well done including the welcome from the performers with drums, jugglers and cheering. The food available pre-show, and the entertainment before the show is top notch and the food is inexpensive. Every seat in the big top is a good one and the quality of the show is fantastic. The best part is that seeing the show supports the mission of this program which is to give skills to underprivileged youth in order for them to have a better quality of life. It is win-win and feel good all the way around.

Fun at the circus - A well choreographed funny display of acrobatics and artistry. A small intimate circus tent style theater it was a good evening of entertainment

Amazing performance - Astounding! Heading in we just assumed that it was just another circus performance. But tonight’s performance blew our mind, from start to finish it was so captivating left us on edge most of the show, it was just incredibly breathtaking. It educated us on how much rice is part of the Cambodian culture, & how Cambodian people eat live & breathe rice & community. We’re truly thankful that we got to experience the show. It’s great to see that although born into difficult circumstances the circus provides access to people to learn about different art forms free of cost! A great initiative!

Waste of money and time - Don't waste your money. For $38.00 instead take your family home for a nice dinner for 4 people. The show is not a real circus. Horrible acrobats. Most of the short one hour show you see them crowning around. There is only one acrobat doing all the acts. So lame. This is for people who never seen real acrobats from China and Russia. Not entertaining at sll. Left disappointed. Don't go .waste of money.
