Angkor Archaeological Park - Purchase Angkor passes at the Angkor Enterprise ticket office for a minimum of three days. Each person requires a pass. The cost is USD62 for 3 days and USD72 for 7 days.
Bayon Temple - Prasat Bayon is a beautifully adorned Khmer temple located in Angkor, Cambodia. Constructed in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, Bayon is situated at the heart of Jayavarman’s capital, Angkor Thom. It is renowned for its numerous serene and smiling stone faces on the towers that extend from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak.
Baphuon Temple - Baphuon is situated in Angkor Thom, northwest of the Bayon. Built in the mid-11th century, it is a three-tiered temple mountain constructed as the state temple of Udayadityavarman, dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva.
Ta Prohm Temple - Ta Prohm is the modern name of the temple, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, originally called Rajavihara. Located about one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray, it was established by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. It is famous for the large trees that have grown on the ruins, with roots intertwining with the masonry. It was featured in the Tomb Raider movie starring Angelina Jolie.
Terrace of the Elephants - The Royal Terraces, consisting of the Terrace of the Elephants to the South and the Terrace of the Leper King to the North, form the Eastern boundary of the Royal Palace grounds. They face the parade grounds where processions, parades, and other events were held. The King would observe the events standing on the Elephant terrace, which he also used as an audience hall to hear the complaints and issues of the citizens of Angkor. Both terraces feature extensive carvings of Devatas, Apsaras, mythological animals, and demons. The Elephants terrace and the Leper King terrace were restored during the 1990s and 2000s.
Angkor Wat - After lunch, the tour continues to the main attraction of the day, Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is a temple complex and the largest religious monument in the world, covering a site of 162.6 hectares. Originally built as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. It was constructed by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura, the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum.
Phnom Bakheng - Phnom Bakheng is a Hindu and Buddhist temple in the form of a temple mountain. Dedicated to Shiva, it was built at the end of the 9th century, during the reign of King Yasovarman (889-910). Located atop a hill, it is now a popular tourist spot for sunset views of the much larger temple Angkor Wat. There is a limit of 300 persons at the top, so it is important to arrive early to see it and then wait. The aim is to return to town by 6:30 pm.
Day Two - Pickup at 8:30 am for a 9-10 hour tour
1000 Lingas - On the way to Phnom Kulen, the main attraction of the day, there is a stop at the river of 1000 lingas.
Phnom Kulen National Park - Phnom Kulen, meaning “Mountain of Lychees,” is a mountain range and part of Phnom Kulen National Park in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. Once there, guests can stop for a swim at the waterfalls.
Phnom Kulen National Park - After a swim, there is a short walk up the mountain to reach the pagoda and reclining Buddha. Guests can sometimes receive a water blessing before moving on.
Phnom Kulen National Park - There is a stop for a local lunch.
Banteay Srei - Banteay Srei, often referred to as the “ladies temple,” is a 10th-century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Located in the Angkor area, it lies near the hill of Phnom Dei, 25 km northeast of the main group of temples that once belonged to the medieval capitals of Yasodharapura and Angkor Thom. Banteay Srei is primarily constructed of red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings still visible today.
Banteay Samre - Banteay Samré is located 400 meters east of the East Baray. Built during the reign of Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, it is a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style.
Pre Rup - Pre Rup is a Hindu temple, built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961 or early 962. It is a temple mountain of combined brick, laterite, and sandstone construction.
Day Three - Pickup at 5:00 am for a 10-12 hour tour
Angkor Wat - The tour revisits Angkor Wat to witness the famous sunrise. Afterwards, guests return to the hotel for breakfast.
Preah Khan - After breakfast, the tour visits Preah Khan, Neak Poan, Ta Som, and East Mebon temples, all clustered together.
Ta Prohm Temple - After lunch, the tour heads out to see Ta Prohm and Ta Nei. Ta Prohm is the modern name of the temple, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, originally called Rajavihara.
Banteay Kdei - Banteay Kdei, meaning “A Citadel of Chambers,” also known as “Citadel of Monks’ cells,” is a Buddhist temple. It is located southeast of Ta Prohm and east of Angkor Thom. Built in the mid-12th to early 13th centuries AD during the reign of Jayavarman VII (who was posthumously given the title “Maha paramasangata pada”), it is in the Bayon architectural style, similar in plan to Ta Prohm and Preah Khan, but less complex and smaller. The aim is to return to town by 3 pm.
Day Four - Pickup at 7:00 am for a 10-11 hour tour
Koh Ker Temple - The day begins with a long drive to Koh Ker, a remote archaeological site in northern Cambodia about 120 kilometres from Siem Reap. It is a jungle-filled region that is sparsely populated. More than 180 sanctuaries were found in a protected area of 81 square kilometres. Only about two dozen monuments are accessible to tourists because most of the sanctuaries are hidden in the forest, and the entire area is not fully demined. Koh Ker is the modern name for an important city of the Khmer empire. Inscriptions refer to the town as Lingapura (city of lingams).
Beng Mealea - After lunch, the tour heads to Beng Mealea, which is quite distant. Beng Mealea is a temple ruin from the Angkor Wat period, located 40 km east of the main group of temples at Angkor, on the ancient royal highway to Preah Khan Kompong Svay. The aim is to return to town by 6 pm.
Preah Vihear Temple - Preah Vihear is an ancient Hindu temple built during the Khmer Empire, situated atop a 525-metre cliff in the Dângrêk Mountains.
Day Five - Pickup at 8:30 am for an 8-hour tour
Kompong Phluk - Kampong Phluk is a collection of villages largely built on stilts on the Tonle Sap. The name means “Harbor of the Tusks.” The community primarily relies on fishing for survival, spending Cambodia’s wet season (May - October) fishing. During the dry season (November - April), as the river thins due to receding water, many turn to farming to supplement their income. Guests tour the village by motorized boat.
Phsar Leu Thom Thmey - On the way back, there is a visit to Phsar Leur (the top market), Phsar Chas (the old market), and Artisans d’Angkor.
