Additional Information

Rincon Village is the oldest village in Bonaire and rich in history. It is also the most senior community within the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Initially settled by the Spanish in the early 1500s, Rincon was strategically nestled within a valley to ward off impending danger from pirates and other threats.
In the 17th century, enslaved people were brought to Bonaire and worked tending crops and the salt pans until 1863. Living in Rincon, the slave men would walk a 7-hour journey south for work and then return on weekends to gather supplies at Mangazina di Rei (King’s storehouse) and visit their families.
We will stop at the Cadushi distillery, where you can taste the local cactus liquor made on Bonaire for free.
After visiting Cadushi, we will stop at our last stop - a local restaurant called Posada. Here you can try native island food and taste the local flavour.

Great Opportunity to visit the middle of the island! - We had a blast exploring Rincon and the middle half of the island with GiGi! She was informative, and took us all over the middle of the island. It included 1000 Steps, flamingoes just near the park, the Cross overlooking Kralejndik, the Cadushy Distillery, and an incredible place for a bite to eat during our visit. You could tell how much she loved the island and loved sharing it with others. We are really glad we got an opportunity to do this tour (the day after getting engaged) as it was a fun, relaxing way to see beyond the beaches.

Guided tour review - We had the pleasure of being the only two on a guided tour of Bonaire/Rincon with Ephraim. What a delightful day we had! Ephraim' s knowledge of the island was very helpful. We went to the Rincon Museum to learn about the history of the area. We got to see a lot of the countryside as well. We made a stop at the Cadushi distillery and learned about the process of making liqueurs and spirits that are named after the other five islands in this chain. The distillery is actually very small, but made over 28,000 bottles of liqueur/spirits this past year. Our visit also included tasting. We also had an orientation of the small shopping street. Our trip concluded with lunch at Konfur restaurant. The trip to the museum and lunch were an additional charge ($5 p/p at museum; less that $20 total for 2 at lunch). Would definitively work with Shekinah Tours again!
