Highlights
  • Chachacha Beach - We drive direction North, through the National Park towards the Northern tip of the island called Malmok, where the most productive fishing begins. We use quality gear (Shimano, Penn International), along with hand-made, unique local tools such as hand lines and down-riggers traditional to this region. Fishing begins as soon as we reach the old refinery, with four lines in the water. We troll along the way, targeting various pelagic species: wahoo, marlin, mahi-mahi, sailfish, yellow-fin tunas and black-fin tunas. Occasionally we may hook a nice barracuda. Captain is also comfortable in jigging techniques. He will switch between different fishing methods in order to maximize the catch.
On our afternoon 5-hour trip we may explore the South side of the island instead, and combine high-speed trolling with more focus on bottom fishing, due to the time of the day.
Note: if you are arriving on a cruise ship and are on a tight schedule, contact us for a customized starting time.

Additional Information

Deep sea fishing on Bonaire is unique and exciting due to the island’s geography. The island offers some glorious, deep drop-offs just a few feet away from the shore where most pelagic species can be found. Captain Jordan is a native fisherman that will go out of his way to offer you an adventure of a lifetime. He will switch between different fishing techniques to maximize the catch. With four lines in the water, we target: wahoo, marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna and mahi-mahi. Our minimum tour is 5 hours, and on longer trips we also do deep drops for: swordfish, queen snappers, groupers, amberjacks and almaco jacks. Our charters are private, between one and six passengers.

Note: If you are arriving on a cruise line and have a limited schedule, kindly contact us for a personalized time schedule.

  • Most species that are caught in the waters of Bonaire are edible and highly sought after by our local restaurants. The fish supply is very scarce, so no fish goes to waste. All fish that is being kept, is shared amongst locals, restaurants, and family. Our catch is divided evenly amongst: guests, Captain and boat. You may choose the type of fish you would like to keep, and the Captain will clean, fillet and bag it for you free of charge.
Location
Bonaire Nautico Marina
Please inform us if you are arriving on a cruise ship, as we will provide you with a different (much closer pick-up location). If you are not on a cruise ship: We will pick you up at Club Nautico Marina in town. It is directly across the street from the famous restaurant "It Rains Fishes".

Fishing adventure - Mako tours took us on a fishing adventure. Everything from booking to boarding was top notch. The team took great care of us and helped us have an epic fishing trip. They helped us book a restaurant after our fishing trip where the chef cooked the fish we caught earlier that day.

Absolutely Amazing – Once in a lifetime experience!!! - We began super early in the morning and caught a couple of decent sized tuna, then switched to live bait and hooked up a massive Blue Marlin!!! It was a two hour fight filled with excitement and thrills and ended with the catch of a lifetime. Jordan is a great captain and fisherman and he and Galina run a fantastic operation. I would highly recommend Mako Tours for anyone that wants to have a great experience fishing in Bonaire.

Awesome - This excursion was the highlight of our trip. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. The tuna weren’t biting, but that’s fishing! We used different fishing techniques and my husband caught his biggest fish ever ! So great to get on the water and lots of room for me to relax while the guys talked fish. Highly recommend.

Mind-blowing experience. Once in a lifetime! - What an experience!!! Just mind-blowing. After collecting a fair bit of medium sized black vin tuna by jigging, we tried our luck with live bait fishing. Almost in an instant we caught something very large. Huge. Turned out to be a Blue Marlin! And a big one too! Took us 4 hours until we had it onboard. What a fight that was. Once in a life time. During the trip we witnessed all kinds of interesting things. Birds diving down near the boat, large yellow vin tuna jumping out of the water, dolphins swimming along with us. It was just a perfect day. Jordan is a very nice guy who is happy to explain and teach. No stress, easy going. The Bonarian way.

Great experience with Mako Tours! - On a whim, I booked a morning fishing trip with Mako Tours. They were able to connect me with one other person who was looking to go fishing. I have fairly limited experience with deep see fishing and wanted to give it a go. The experience was excellent. The owner/captain is from Bonaire and was very knowledgeable about the fish, waters, and the island. The captain had us leave early, before sunrise, as the fishing had been slow the previous days. His suggestion was spot on and we were reeling in Blackfin Tuna in no time. Great fun! I highly recommend this professional and experienced charter operation.

So incredible that we booked him TWICE! Best on Bonaire - Captain Jordan made us feel very welcome onboard Valhalla. His knowledge of the reefs and fish around Bonaire was exceptional and thanks to him a snorkeled with turtles for the very first time. Simply incredible. PLUS the fishing experience was so good that we booked him for a second trip! I would recommend Mako Tours to anyone visiting Bonaire wanting to deep sea fish. Definitely the BEST on island. Thank you Jordan and Galina for making our trip so special.
