Very well worth while. - A really great trip. The coach was clean and on time, Olivia was our guide with the bus but then we had a different guide for the tour. This guide was amazing and our tour was longer than it should have been as she passed on so much information - she was really knowledgeable. The only thing I'd pass on to others - my mistake really - the pick up point hotel is nothing to do with the tour, and we assumed the MPVs outside were for us, turned out it was the coach which pulled up on the opposite side of the road. We didn't miss the tour but do keep your eyes open and wits about you, the sign in the coach windscreen was quite small and not easily visible form the pavement.

Exceptional guide - Auschwitz and Birkenau - I assumed, as it was out of the main tourist season, that booking a trip would be easy... Well you know what they say about assuming... Makes an ass out of u and me. About a week before we flew I started doing my research only to find most dates and operators were fully booked. I therefore contacted our hotel to see if they could assist. Luckily they use Krakow Direct who managed to squeeze us in. Total cost of the day trip for us both was £185. That included collection from the hotel, skip the queue tickets for Auschwitz and Birkenau, and a private guide (Michael - who was excellent). Around Auschwitz you do feel a bit rushed and you are herded through buildings with what feels like military precision, but that is because of the sheer volume of visitors and you only have a limited time slot. Birkenau is less rushed but a lot more walking. None the less it was exactly as you'd expect; an important and sobering reminder of not only the pure evil people are capable of but also the strength, resilience and determination people demonstrate at times of adversity and near certain death. This trip is one I think everyone should do in their lifetime at least once.

Very good company to rely on - Excellent bus with around 15 people to Auschwitz then a walking tour with a very asture guide who didn't rush anything. Took around 2 hours. Then to birkenau which is about a 3km walk once off the bus. Again very poignant and a lot to learn. Krakow Direct were reliable and professional.

Good service from Krakow Direct - We used Krakow Direct for an airport transfer and also for a Auschwitz/Birkenau tour. The hotel transfer was great having arrived late at night. the driver was waiting and was very polite and professional. It was reasonable priced also. The Auschwitz tour also went smoothly. We weren’t entirely sure what to expect. We had a very early pick from our hotel at 5am by minibus, then transferred to a larger coach. When we arrived at the camp we were given our individually named tickets. The tour began around 8am. Our guide was Michael who was extremely knowledgable.

Another one off the bucket list, but could have been better - Booked the Auschwitz tour which was our main reason for travelling to Poland. Although we had a pick up time of 7.30, just be aware that that time can change, ours did for 5.45 but I’m all for an early start anyway. The transport was perfect, very clean and comfortable. Once there, you realise how popular the tours are, so prepare yourself for a long queue. When you finally get to the ticket office, you’re allocated a tour time and guide. This is where it all went down hill as all the English speaking tours were sold out. We were then given the option of a Polish speaking guide in 90 minutes or an English guide in an estimated 4 hours. After over an hour in the bus and two hours queuing the group decided to go for the first option and we went with the majority decision. Unsure what would have happened if we said no and waited for the English guide. If you’re in our position, I’d definitely wait as although you can walk around we definitely missed out on the knowledge of an experienced guide. We also had 4 in our group that paid for skip the queue which could only work if the whole group had the same idea.

KrakowDirect - Big warning - Great warning !!! Book absolutely no excursions with KrakowDirect. Extremely rogue company !! We booked Auschwitz-Birkenau with and English guide with them. Advertised departure time 7,00 but in the afternoon the day before we were informed that the departure time had been brought forward to 5,15 !! We were told that when it was already too late to cancel. Once at Auschwitz we stood in line for 2,5 hours. Then we are told that the only thing that could be offered was entrance at 10.00. 13.00 with Polish guide. So we had to wait from 6.30 until 10.00. 13.00 to get in and since we are Swedish and absolutely do not understand Polish, the guided tour was unfortunately impossible to understand. Now, a month later, we have been informed of Krakow Direct's view of the situation. They offer 15% refund!! What a mockery. Seek other options or abstain.

poor customer service - I would not use this company they quote professional and friendly service, we were booked on the trip with a 0700 pick up at a different hotel to the one we were staying in, the driver called me to say he was leaving at 0702 and I asked him to wait 5 mins for us as we were in route ( our taxi was late) he refused and said they were leaving I then called the office to see if we could switch to another day and was told NO we had to rebook, the lady then advised I could email them to see if there was anything they could do and as I have now come to realise unhelpful as no response has been receIved

Avoid - I booked 2 weeks in advance only to have them cancel last minute. This meant I had to rebook a new tour and transport with even shorter notice and greater expense than what this tour operator took for themselves. Avoid this operator.
