Additional Information

Embark on an exclusive journey away from the touristy sites in Iceland. This tour is quite personalized as we only accommodate a limited number of people at a time. Professional paragliding guides will instruct you about the necessary procedures and safety measures before accompanying you to take flight. The paraglider is devoid of any engines and utilizes thermals to navigate through the sky akin to a bird.

Previous experience is not a requirement. Sit back and admire the scenery as your guide handles the paraglider and you glide above the lava fields situated just outside Reykjavik. If you’re up for it, try supervised steering of the paraglider and grasp the fundamentals of unpowered flight or request your guide to perform some additional high-octane maneuvers in the air.

Delve away from the crowd of tourists and savour the sensation of being a singleton bird soaring across Iceland.

 • Children must be accompanied by an adult
 • It’s normally a bit colder up in the air than on the ground, please dress appropriately
 • Subject to favourable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date/activity or full refund

A must do - This was an amazing experience for our family that we won’t ever forget. We were in touch with Happy World (company who runs the experience) before the event and they were great. They walked us through the safety instructions before every single person went up (there were 6 of us) as they take safety seriously. The views are breathtaking and help calm your nerves. It was scary but exhilarating and a must do to create memories. We put the address into our GPS and it bypassed the parking area and had us turn on a do not enter road. If you GPS it, once you see the light sticking out of the lava rocks (it’s the only light on the road), turn right onto a dirt road (no signage). It’s maybe a quarter mile (or 1 kilometer) off the main road once you turn off.

Great Replacement Due to Weather - Unfortunately, the paragliding was cancelled due to weather. The company was able to arrange a small ultralight plane flight as a replacement, which was a great experience. Great stuff, and well-handled.

It works! HappyWorld makes you happy ! - On August 23rd 2019 I was scheduled for early morning para-gliding at HappyWorld near Reykjavik. I was looking forward to soaring over the hills with a parachute. Due to excessive wind, the para-glide had to be rescheduled for safety reasons. I received a timely notification and wanted to remain on stand-by. Just in case the Icelandic weather would be better a bit later that afternoon. It did get better. A lot better. In many ways. I got a free upgrade from para-glide to ultralight because all para-glides were cancelled that day. The organizer Throstur was very agile and willing to pick me up anywhere in Reykjavik city as soon as the weather improved. It did: I got a call, was picked up and in the air in no-time. A hassle-free yet safety oriented organization + excellent English language skills + experienced instructor pilot + super-agile contact person results in an unforgettable experience. I couldn’t be happier ! We flew over the Reykjavik Faxafloi bay area, the mountains and the outskirts of the city: with ample of time and opportunity to make beautiful photos and videos, see attached. Hope to be back soon in Reykjavik for a Northern Lights tour with HappyWorld too !

This was an excellent booking -- our... -
This was an excellent booking -- our weather in Iceland was windy and rainy almost the entire 5 days we were there. Our initial paraglide tour was cancelled, but our guide kept us updated with weather and wind. One sunny morning we were delighted to get the go-ahead, but then the wind kicked up. Instead of canceling, we were offered a glider experience -- which we took. It was wonderful ! We went up one at a time in the two seat glider -- our pilot gave a rich, detailed aerial tour of lava fields, lakes, mountains -- then ended with aerobatics 2 Gs to weightless ! -- so much fun. Five stars for the organization on the ground, and 5 for the pilot !
