Highlights
  • Kotor Old City - Kotor is situated in the most secluded part of Boka Kotorska (The Bay of Kotor). While it dates from the Illyrian period, Kotor developed into an important commercial and artistic center in the Middle Ages. Many empires battled for control over the city throughout the centuries: from being an autonomous city of the Byzantine Empire, free city of medieval Serbia, then under Venetian or Hungarian states, gaining independence and then returned to Venetian control once again, just to be occupied by France and then Austria, until Kotor finally became part of Yugoslavia. Kotor tour begins at the main gate of the Old Town, also known as the Sea Gate (Morska vrata), where you will meet our guide.

Great Guide in Kotor - Jelena was a great guide for our walking tour of Old Town Kotor! We had 7 people in our group, and we all enjoyed Jelena’s knowledge, personality and interest in making our time in her city special. Jelena answered all our questions about Kotor and Montenegro with honesty and aplomb. I’m so glad she was our guide!

Excellent quick overview before exploring on your own - Our guide provided an excellent overview of the history of the town and showed us around a number of key sites. Lots of recommendations of where to eat and shop. It was only just over one hour and felt a few interesting spots were missed. Make sure to ask lots of questions.

Bad Luck With Weather - We couldn’t do the excursion because the ship couldn’t drop anchor. Trip Advisor reversed the charge. We hope to do better in Rome.
