- Our Lady of the Rocks - Our Lady of the Rocks is one of the two islets located off the coast of Perast in the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro (the other being Sveti Đorđe island). This islet is man-made, formed by a bulwark of rocks and by sinking old and captured ships filled with stones. The Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Rocks (Montenegrin: Gospa od Škrpjela) is the largest structure on the islet, accompanied by a museum. Additionally, there is a small gift shop near the church and a navigation light at the western tip of the islet. According to legend, the islet was created over centuries by local sailors who honored an ancient vow after discovering the icon of Madonna and Child on a rock in the sea on July 22, 1452. After each successful voyage, they would place a rock in the Bay. Over time, the islet emerged from the sea. The tradition of throwing rocks into the sea continues to this day. Visitors can stop on the island to explore the church and museum, and purchase souvenirs.
