Highlights
  • Kotor Cable Car - We start from our meeting point at 9:00 am.

To reach the amazing views of the Bay of Kotor and conquer Lovćen Mountain we will take the Cable Car, overlooking the famous Old Austro-Hungarian serpentine road from 1884 offering spectacular views of Kotor and Tivat Bays - an unforgettable start to an amazing day!

  • Kotor Serpentine - Due to windy weather, Cable Car ride can be canceled and instead we will take an old Austo-Hungarian road to reach the Njeguši village.
  • Njegusi - After admiring the magnificent Bay of Kotor, we continue our Great Montenegro tour over the slopes of Mt. Lovćen to reach the most famous village in Montenegro - Njeguši, where the best prosciutto (smoked ham) in the region is produced.

Along our winding road path we pass a number of original 300+ year old Montenegrin stone houses. Don’t be surprised to see cows and goats grazing, resting, running around or even blocking the road in the surrounding fields and slopes.

Around 09.30 am everybody should be ready for a short breakfast/snack at the oldest restaurant in Montenegro - first opened in 1881.

But before you grab a bite, your guide will invite you to enjoy a free traditional RAKIJA shot (strong local brandy), just to start your day off better

  • Lovcen National Park - After a short rest and excellent traditional food, we’ll be ready to continue our Great Montenegro tour towards the Lovćen peaks. To conquer this “Sea of rocks”, we’ll drive through the National Park of Lovćen and reach the well-known Lake Peak located at an altitude of 1.660 meters.
  • Njegos Mausoleum - On top of the second-highest and imposing peak of Lovćen sits the officially highest mausoleum in the world - where the greatest Montenegrin ruler and poet Petar II Petrović Njegoš rests in peace.
  • Cetinje - During the walking tour, the guide will lead you through the most important monuments that are distinguished by their beauty and historical relevance - Monastery of Cetinje, King Nikola’s Palace, Court Church at Ćipur, and Biljarda (residence of Peter II Petrović Njegoš) where we enter to see concrete relief of Montenegro built by Austro-Hungarian army during WWI.
  • Lake Skadar - We continue towards the Crnojević River for some astonishing photo shots, a scenic boat ride, and, a timely lunch break!
Here we are about to enjoy our scenic and relaxing boat ride. As the Crnojević River contributes directly to Skadar Lake, we’ll get the sense of the similar lush vegetation, water lilies, and dynamic birdlife as if we were at the lake itself.
  • Sveti Stefan - The big attraction on the Riviera of Budva is Sveti Stefan. The former fishing village situated on a peninsula became an exclusive luxury hotel-town 50 years ago where non-guests are not allowed to enter.
We have just enough time to enjoy the beauty of the island and to caption it in a photo from a viewpoint above the insland.

Great day trip! - Great day trip, we both really enjoyed it. The guide Jelena was excellent, she gave us lots of information about history of Montenegro while keeping us all engaged. The trip was well organised, all locations visited were interesting and we had enough time for photos, breakfast and lunch. The breakfast is optional and consists of local prosciutto ham, cheese, tomato, bread and olives, hot or calf drink included. Lunch was either grilled fish with boiled potatoes, chicken in creamy sauce with fries or vegetarian dish. Starter of either fish or chicken soup with bread, green salad and cake for dessert. We had fish and chicken and both were very tasty. The boat ride was definitely a highlight of the day! Views were amazing, I can only imagine how beautiful it looks when the water lilies blossom. All in all the trip was great! Thanks to our driver Marco who did great driving us up the hill on the windy roads of Montenegro.

Great Day Out - These know how to organise a tour. Booking and communication before was simple and in my view good value for money. If you find yourself with an opportunity to take this tour, do so, you won't regret it. Tour guide Igor and driver Marko looked after us so well. Igor's narrative was so good - informal and sometimes funny, but always educational. He pitched it right in terms of how often to explain things and was always available for any additional advice. You can only learn so much about a country in 11 hours, but I believe this tour does this and gives you a sense of the history and pride that Montenegro has. As well as the serious stuff, there was time for fun along the way including rakija with breakfast :-) and a boat tour along the Crnojević River with an opportunity to swim, listen to the music and an extra surprise (you'll have to go to find out). Thank you Igor for your humour, patience and education, thank you Marko for your expert driving.

Tour guide and Viator can do better in communication. - The tour guide was okay. He did not joke or make it more interesting or funny. Very monotonous. I did not underst.and half of it. I do wish him and hope he improves. Viator tour did not send me the full itinerary. People who signed up from other tour company got the hourly schedule. We did not know about the lunch, swimwear and that we had to pay entrance fees and lunch by cash only.
