• Toyosu Market - ※Closed on Wednesdays, Sundays, and occasionally on other irregular days. Many shops in Tsukiji are also closed due to Toyosu’s closure.

Toyosu Market (豊洲市場, Toyosu Shijō) began operations on October 11, 2018, on the man-made island of Toyosu in Tokyo Bay. It succeeded the aging Tsukiji Market in the wholesale business and offers tourists a chance to witness market activities and enjoy dining at its expansive, modern facilities.

The vast wholesale market comprises three main buildings: two dedicated to seafood and one for fruits and vegetables. All buildings are interconnected and linked to Shijo-mae Station via walkways.

• Tsukiji Fish Market - Tsukiji is Japan’s historic fish market, brimming with delicious and unique foods. Both locals and tourists flock here to enjoy the excellent selection! Be sure to make a purchase to support local businesses! Tsukiji may not be accessible in December or early January due to market requests to pause tours during the holidays. Thank you for your understanding.

• Ameyoko Shopping Street - A favorite activity for many visitors to Japan is embarking on a souvenir shopping spree, gathering as many fantastic goods and deals as possible. In Ginza, shoppers seek high-end and trendy fashion in its numerous department stores and upscale duty-free shops, while Shinjuku is renowned for its plethora of large electronics retailers – Tokyo offers many shopping spree hotspots.

• Senso-ji Temple - Sensoji Temple is one of Japan’s most renowned temples, boasting a 1,300-year history and famous for its entrance gate, Kaminarimon, distinguished by its large red lantern.

Sensoji is not the only attraction in the area. Beyond Kaminarimon lies Nakamise Dori, Japan’s oldest shopping street, leading to the temple’s main hall. On Nakamise Dori, visitors can purchase traditional Japanese crafts and enjoy tasty snacks like fried mochi (glutinous rice cakes).

• Nakamise Shopping Street (Kaminarimon) - Nakamise is Asakusa’s most famous shopping street. It stretches 250 meters along the main approach to Sensoji Temple, lined with shops offering traditional souvenirs, snacks, and sweets.

This street is situated on temple grounds, beginning and ending with a temple gate: the southern end features the outer gate of Kaminarimon, and the northern end has the inner gate of Hozomon. Between these gates are 89 shops, with 54 on the east side and 35 on the west. “Nakamise” is a traditional name for shopping streets on temple or shrine grounds, making this one of the oldest and most famous in Japan.

• Kappabashi Street (Kappabashi Dogugai) - Kappabashi Street (かっぱ橋道具街, Kappabashi Dōgugai) is a shopping street between Ueno and Asakusa, lined with numerous stores selling everything a restaurant operator might need, except fresh food.

Specialized stores offer dishes, pots, pans, cooking utensils, stoves, tables, chairs, signs, lanterns, and more. Some stores also sell plastic and wax food samples, commonly used by restaurants in their display windows.

• Tsukishima Monjya Street - Monjayaki is a liquid-y, hot, and admittedly unattractive dish, but once you get past its appearance and focus on its substance, you’ll forgive its looks and dive in. A thin batter made with flour and dashi (Japanese stock) forms the base, with a variety of toppings to suit everyone’s taste. If you’ve never tried it, there’s only one place to go in Tokyo, aptly named Monja Street.

• Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street - One of Tokyo’s best shopping streets, offering a well-preserved old-town “Shitamachi” atmosphere. Discover the nostalgic side of Tokyo through Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street!

Yanaka (谷中) is a tranquil neighborhood in Taito ward, east Tokyo. Known as an old-town district (Shitamachi in Japanese), it retains a nostalgic and rustic charm. Yanaka is easily accessible from Ueno and is within walking distance of Ueno Park.

Yanaka is a residential and low-key commercial area where many locals reside, and old shops and buildings are clustered. Yanaka Ginza (谷中銀座) is a favorite spot for locals to shop, eat, and socialize with neighbors. It is the district’s most vibrant area, where visitors can experience the authentic local atmosphere.
