Great custom one day tour in Kolkata - In advance of a National Geographic river cruise, my wife and I booked a one-day tour of Kolkata with T. Mukerjee at Kolkata trips. We provided a list of our interests and also things we wanted to avoid (because they would be covered on a separate 1 day tour hosted by Nat Geo). Mukherjee was very flexible and responsive throughout the booking process and offered suggestions for how to meet our objectives and also offered ideas of other things to see that would align with our interests. When it came to execution and logistics, our day was flawless. We saw what we wanted to see and several things we weren't expecting but that were very interesting. Because of our interest in architecture, Mukherjee brought along a colleague who was well-steeped in the nuances of Kolkata architecture and history. I would highly recommend using Mukherjee and Kolkata trips for a day tour (or longer) of the city, whether that is a standard tour or a custom tour.

Private tour of Calcutta and Chandernagor - In this sprawling city steeped in history, culture and politics, Mr Mukherjee and his assistant were able to introduce us to the city's iconic landmarks, but also those, more touching, of the daily lives of its inhabitants. The visit of Calcutta which took place over two days was completed, at our request, by an excursion to Chandernagor in the footsteps of Duplex and its successors, in what was since the 18th century and until 1952 one of the 5 French counters in India. Exciting and moving day. In a word, the organization by "Kolkota trips" of these three days of visit was perfect, Mr. Mukherjee worrying at all times about our comfort, our interest and our satisfaction. That is how, without reservation and with confidence, we recommend "Kolkata trips".

Highly recommend for a comprehensive, personalized tour of the city - Had a wonderful experience with Mr. Mukherjee! He was very kind, attentive and happy to customize our tour in any way we wanted, regardless of extra time or cost. It was clear how much he wanted to make sure we were safe and enjoying our experience to the fullest. He went out of his way to show us extra sights of personal significance and it meant a lot. Highly recommend!

Six star day of Delights! - A six star experience with Mr. Mukherjee!!! From the minute, he picked me up at the airport till the minute I was dropped off I was extremely well cared for and he is the absolute best host! He reviewed the schedule and asked if there were additional things I’d like to do while I was visiting Kolkata. We did several things that were unscripted and just so much fun! for instance, I don’t drink coffee so after the Indian coffee house, which was a really really interesting local spot we went and had tea on a corner with lots of other locals. I told him I wanted to walk so we had lots of walking opportunities through beautiful gardens and down by the river across the bridge- we took the ferry back just to illustrate how incredibly flexible he is! He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history, music and the culture of both Kolkata and West Bengal, and is very passionate about sharing, and it’s a joy to be with him. There are many highlights of the tour, including the Jain Temple, Potters Colony, the Flower Market, and all of the British Colonial monuments. Mother Theresa‘s house was a deeply profound experience, and Mr. Mukherjee gave me as much time as I needed. We’ve done private tours all over the world and this sincerely was one of the very best all the way up to the last stop, which was the sweet shop on the way to the airport, which was just a delightful surprise before getting on a long flight home. Mr. Mukherjee’s care went even as far as checking on us to make sure we had made our way to our next destination. He really cares for his clients and it’s evident that he is a genuinely wonderful person!!

Fantastic Tour of Kolkata for Everyone - Our guide Tirthankar was amazing and incredibly responsive to our last minute changes. He clearly takes pride in the city, the tour, and making sure that all his guests feel comfortable and interested throughout the day. Our group had a mixture of Americans and former locals, all of which had a truly fantastic time. We visited the Jain Temple, Potters Colony, College Street, Coffee House, Flower Market, and Victoria Memorial Garden. We had a seamless tour and would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Babus , Zamindars and Sahibs in the City of Palaces and Joy - To complete my trinity of West Bengal I joined a private tour with Kolkata trips for a Calcutta historical and architectural tour. Little did I expect such treasures and revelations to unfold. Mukerjee was very kind to engage a local historian to add depth and color to my jaunt. And did it teach me quite a few things. Did you know, 1. Washington DC was actually a sugar plantation owned by a Bengali ? 2. Rhinoplasties were performed in India long before the West because of the punishment for theft and lying? 3. The dark past of modern banking institutions and trading companies linked to opium and ita destructive history in China and Asia? Besides a detailed coverage of several significant buildings in the Dalhousie area I discovered the original Chinatown that pre dates the Tangra district. And there are clan houses, temples that are still active places of worship as well as Calcutta’s soy sauce factory. These settlements have interesting ties to Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong and also China. One also appreciates the complexity of the Chinese diaspora - told through persecution, war, shifting political loyalties and modern geo politics between Taiwan and China. I strongly recommend these sites for Chinese travellers. In the northern part of black town are the palaces of the landed gentry Zamindari and home of the Bengal Renaissance. Two outstanding sites are the Marble Palace belonging to the Mullicks and the fabled Tagore clan. The former family home of Rabindranath Tagore is now a museum of his works and life travels. This requires at least two hours for a detailed visit. So make the time !

Outstanding tour of Kolkata - We had such an amazing experience with Mr Mukherjee. He is hands down one of the best tour guides we have ever had. It all started from his timely communication and understanding what we wanted to do on our highlighted tour prior to booking and once we booked he even made sure that whatever we wanted to do that it is fulfilled. He never steered us to shopping or going to certain places that normal tour guides do as they have tie in with certain shops Mr Mukherjee is a true gentlemen and alway made sure we were comfortable and always opened the door for us. He went to great detail and explaining all the sites we visited. You can see the passion he has for Kolkata and the love he has with the history We love to take picture so he had so much patience with us and he took amazing pics. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kolkata. He is a true gem of a person!
