- Church of Saint Francis - Constructed in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars, this is India’s first European church. Originally a wood and mud structure dedicated to St. Bartholomew, Vasco da Gama was interred here in 1524. Although his remains were returned to Lisbon 14 years later, his tombstone remains preserved.
- Chinese Fishing Nets - This distinctive fishing method has evolved into a major tourist attraction. Known as Cheenavala in Malayalam, these nets are believed to have been introduced to Kochi by the Chinese explorer Zheng He from the court of Kublai Khan. The nets were set up on Kochi’s shores between 1350 and 1450 AD. The large cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, resembling oversized hammocks, have become an iconic symbol representing Fort Kochi on the tourist map.
- Fort Kochi Beach - Established by the Portuguese in 1506, Fort Kochi is located on Rampart Road, south of Fosse Street, Fort Kochi.
