Additional Information

Embark on a magical journey into the realm of Greek mythos and delve into the mysteries of the Minoan civilization, aided by our expert, certified tour guide. Explore the majestic labyrinthine palace which housed Minos, the offspring of Zeus and Europa.

Considered the 8th wonder of the world, the fame of Knossos Palace is well-earned. It stands as one of the most significant relics of Minoan civilization. Although an earthquake nearly devastated it completely, a reconstruction during the 20th century remedied this damage, enabling us to witness its glory as in the days of yore.

Situated in the vicinity of Heraklion, the opportunity to pay a visit to the Knossos Palace is one we cannot forgo! Get a glimpse of the ‘lion square’, the heart of the city which houses the renowned Morosini fountain. We’ll also make a stop at the museum of Nikos Kazantzakis, one of Greece’s most celebrated authors. Further along, we’ll see the Venetian fortress - now reduced to walls. But these walls house the city’s main attraction and most well-known destination - the Heraklion lighthouse.

Remarkable ancient culture, brought to life by a terrific guide! - Our driver was on time and waiting for us after we got off the ship. It was a long drive to Knossos, but he made it in excellent time, and it was very comfortable. Our guide, named Sophie, was excellent! She met us where the driver dropped us off, and took us to the Knossos museum. We spent several hours there, and she explained things in great detail, and it was all fascinating. After that, we went to the site if Knossos itself, where she continue to show us the remarkable culture of the Minoans. It’s such an old and fascinating story – the Minoans. And Sophie did a wonderful job of re-creating the world that they lived in. It was a wonderful experience.

Guided tour - Amazing place to visit, we had a guide who explained a great deal to us over the couple of hours we were on site. There is a toilet before the main entrance where you scan your ticket and then none once you are inside. The queue for the stone throne which was originally interpreted as king Minos throne is quite long and so if it is busy its worth going straight here (we waited around 20 minutes to see the room) This is a fascinating place to visit.

Amazing Personal Guided Tour - Grigorios, our guide, was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Our driver was also very friendly and punctual. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone interested in receiving an in depth look at the landscape, artifacts and history of Knossos Palace and the Minoan Culture. We toured Knossos, visited the museum and spent time in the beautiful city of Heraklion where we were able to explore cafes and shops at our leisure. I cannot say enough good things about this experience.
