Herkalion Hop On and Off Bus - The Hop On and Off bus from Heraklion was on time and comfortable. The people were efficient, friendly and helpful. The sound on the upper deck was challenging but we had a map that was great.

Worth doing to get around Heraklion and neighbouring towns. You really get a feel for the area. - Very reasonable bus trip around Heraklion - however this does also take you out to ammadoura town. The open top is great ( can be very hot but there’s the option to be under cover too. ) You receive courtesy head phones and get a script of all the sights you pass This takes you all the way up to Knossos palace and you can also get on and off the bus as often as you like if you see something you’d like to visit. They run every 20 minutes so no hanging around.

Explore the city - Probably the best way to explore this city as attractions are spread out and hard to navigate to otherwise. The audio portion was great with little facts and history. Very much city vibes and less scenic views.

Day trip from chania - I think 20 euro is a bit high to be fair. Sockets for ear plugs not working. As its a city with a lot of traffic we seemed to crawl around the very short tour. A local bus could take you the 5km to ruins of castle wouldn't cost 40 euro for a couple. Other attractions can be easily got walking to. Not our favourite city tour sorry.

20 euros to waste your time in Heraklion's hellish traffic - This post focuses on one of the companies that organizes "Hop on Hop off" tours, simply because we happened to take their bus. However, the problems I'm highlighting apply to all similar companies, and honestly, it's not really their fault. It's the city's. So what's wrong with this tour? The few sights worth seeing are mostly along the waterfront (Koules fortress, ruins of the old Venetian port, natural history museum), and you don't need to take the bus, you can easily walk to all of them. The old city walls are poorly maintained, so there's not much to see - I've written elsewhere about the deplorable state of these walls, lying in disrepair and covered in dirt and rubble. If you want to visit the old medieval gates (Jesus Gate, Pantokrator Venetian Portal, Vitouri Gate, etc.), walking is definitely better since you'll actually be able to explore the interiors in some cases. Beyond the tourist area, Heraklion simply isn't a beautiful city. In fact, parts of it are downright ugly, dirty, and crowded, making a good portion of the bus ride quite unpleasant, especially the journey to and from Knossos. In my opinion, the only reason to pay 20 euros per person for this tour is if you're determined to visit what's probably Crete's most famous tourist trap: the archaeological site of Knossos.

Poor bus tour and not enough buses - Used this bus tours as previously used elsewhere and had a good experience. There's very little to see from the bus in Heraklion but did use to get to Knossos. When trying to get back it was organised chaos. All bus tour buses congregate in the same place. There's no way enough buses for the amount of people and they are definitely NOT every 20 minutes as we were told. Ended up getting the local bus back for 2.50 euros each and they are much more frequent than the hop on hop off. Definitely beware when using these.

Bad business - The biggest scam. Don’t buy at the port. It’s good only for blue line , which a joke. Goes once a hour. People are really not friendly.

- This company is an absolute scam. You've more chance of winning the lottery than one of their buses turning up. When you're waiting for the first bus of the day at the second stop to be 55 minutes late and then refuse to stop because we'd already given up and started wandering back to our hotel is a special kind of incompetence. Don't waste your money. The only way this company can redeem itself in the slightest is to refund our tickets.

Not recommended - Terrible Service. They told us the bus would leave shortly and instead we waited 40 minutes. We were told there would be an audio guide, but it didn't work. At the return again delay of 20 minutes.e when we complained they told us very rudely that they could not do anything. Absolutely not recommended, a scam.
