Kinsale is a historic port and fishing town on Ireland’s south east coast, near the old Head of Kinsale. It is famously known for its Michelin-starred Bastion restaurants and for holding annual gourmet food festivals.
The town also has notable buildings, which include Desmond Castle, the 17th-century pentagonal bastion fort of James Fort on Castlepark peninsula, and Charles Fort.
From 1694, Kinsale served as a supply base for the Royal Navy vessels for the South of Ireland and due to this a number of storehouses were built. Then in 2005, Kinsale became Ireland’s second Fair Trade Town, with Clonakilty being the first.
It is a vibrant towm with bright streets and was rated among the 20 most beautiful villages in the UK and Ireland in 2020.
