SIMPLE ITINERARY:
Begin the day early by ordering breakfast while awaiting the driver. An Afri Safaris driver guide will transport you to the RDB headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing at 7:00 am. This briefing is crucial as it introduces you to other tourists and Rangers who will guide you into the forest. The briefing covers various topics, with a focus on gorilla etiquette, expectations, and essential items for the trek. Gorilla families are assigned based on your fitness level and age, as some groups are located deeper in the forest, requiring longer treks. Porters are available to assist with extra luggage. Park Rangers will lead the trek, which can last between 2 to 6 hours.
After spending an hour observing the mountain gorillas, the guide will be waiting for you at the starting point.

You get so near that you can actually smell them – a strong, sweet scent reminiscent of sweaty gorillas. It’s not too different from how humans might smell if they spent their lives wandering the forest without shower gel. Humans share 98 percent of their DNA with mountain gorillas.
