Highlights
  • Bob Marley Museum - The museum is situated on the site of the legendary musician’s home, which he purchased in 1975. This house, featuring 19th-century architecture, was Marley’s home until his transition in 1981. It was converted into a museum six years later by his wife, Mrs Rita Marley. The main museum displays Marley’s personal treasures.

The property also features a well-equipped 80-seat theatre, a photographic gallery, a record shop and a gift shop filled with a wide array of Bob Marley memorabilia.

  • Devon House - One of Jamaica’s most celebrated historic landmarks, the Devon House Mansion is the architectural dream of Jamaica’s first black millionaire, George Stiebel. Having gained his wealth from gold mining in South America, Stiebel was among three wealthy Jamaicans who constructed elaborate homes during the late 19th century at the corner of Trafalgar Road and Hope Road. This corner fittingly became known as the Millionaire’s Corner.

The Devon House mansion is a beautiful blend of Caribbean and Georgian architecture, furnished with an expertly curated collection of Jamaican, English and French antique pieces and reproductions. The Mansion overlooks a vast expanse of perfectly manicured and lush, green lawns. Stiebel’s legacy lives on with the beautifully maintained Devon House, which was declared a national monument in 1990 by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust. This was done under the instructions of the Rt. Hon. Edward Seaga, who was then Minister of Development and Welfare with responsibility for cultural affairs, and later Prime Minister of Jamaica.

Devon House has since evolved from being home of Jamaica’s first black millionaire, George Stiebel, to being synonymous with fun, family entertainment and recreation in Kingston, where guests can tour, shop, dine and relax.

Personalized and informative tour! - This was our second visit to Jamaica and first to Kingston! Our driver, Damien, was on time to our resort, and provided plenty of cultural and interesting information during our drive from Ocho Rios to Kingston. We arrived early to the Bob Marley Museum, which gave us exclusive time to tour the outside of the property. He also patiently waited while we met some local friends and ate at the Devon House. We highly recommend using this tour company!

Great service! Very accomodating. - I will certainly call Jamaica Mesmerizing tours again when I return to Jamaica. In addition to the Kingston private day trip, Jamaica Mesmerizing Tours also provided private round trip transfer between the Montego Bay airport and Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay. Carlos was our driver each time. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and professional. His car was spotless and well-maintained. He was punctual and timely, without being aggressive in his driving. He told us a lot of interesting facts about Jamaica's history and culture. After the initial trip to the hotel, I specifically asked for him to take us to Kingston. On the back end, Shanice did an excellent job. I reserved the airport pick-up just the day before I landed in Montego Bay. She confirmed my arrangements right away and Carlos was there for me. When we discussed some other trips, all of the prices that she quoted were comparable to others that I had seen. Despite my group's lack of planning, Shanice arranged for Carlos to drive us from Montego Bay to Kingston and back. She also arranged for him to take us back to the airport, even though I had given her the wrong departure date! She checked up on us during our stay and even throughout my return flight home.

A “Must Do” Place - As you can imagine every thing about this museum is all about Bob Marley. The museum is located in what was once Bob Marley's home. I am not a great Bob Marley fan but I nevertheless found the place very interesting. To a Bob Marley fan the place would be like Bob Marley Heaven. The conducted tour of the house/ museum takes about an hour. The tour guide was most entertaining and informative. This place is on the list of "Must Do" when you visit Kingston.
