Killarney

Tour of Dingle Day The Dingle Peninsula, protruding into the Atlantic Ocean, is the northernmost of the hilly outcrops that make up the jagged coastline of Southwest Ireland. Its landscape of mountains and coastline is particularly striking and its historical sites add to its appeal.

Dingle delight - Michael, our driver and tour guide, was pleasant and knowledgeable. The scenery was incredible. A truly enjoyable day!

Dingle loop and sleahead was awesome with Mike the driver - Mike was an excellent guide and entertaining. He has been doing various types of tours most of his life. The bus was comfortable and we always felt safe with Mike even on the narrow roads. The tour was on time and the logistics were all taken care of for us...highly recommend both the company and the driver Mike.

Awesone - Obviously the views. The only thing we didn’t care for was the lunch at Victory place. Definitely would have preferred more time in Dingle rather than there, although the views were very nice.

Dingle Peninsula Tour - The day before we went on the Ring of Kerry Tour with the same company. Both tours were good. This one was less popular so there was less people around so that was a plus. I was really interested in visiting Dingle so thought this tour would help with that. Sad part was we spend maybe 2hours in total at Dingle and part of that was getting food, which isn't a quick process in Ireland. We stopped at Inch Beach which was pretty and we had some time to walk around there. Aside from these two stops every other stop was picture ops. We stopped at Glanfahan where you can see old Clochan or Beehvies. There is an option to pay to go see on still standing but we didn't do that. The next two stops were by Slea Head to see the Blakset Islands and filming locations for a few movies, sets are no longer there so it's just the locations. Dingle was the last stop and the town itself was wonderful I just wish we had more time. The driver was nice and knowledgeable about things. We had him the day before and this day he was a little more talkative but still not one for a lot of small talk. I did enjoy this tour a little more than the Ring of Kerry but if you are able to just drive I'd recommend that.

Wild Kerry Tours / O'Connor Tours: Dingle Peninsula Tour out of Killarney - We did this tour out of Killarney and they picked us up at our hotel right on time. We were moving that day so we had luggage which they were able to store on the bus for the day. This was not a small group tour. But it wasn't a full size bus either - maybe 30 seats. I'm not sure if this is the standard or if they have various size buses based on the number of guests that day. But smaller groups just work better. Mike was our driver and did a nice job of pointing out places of interest, a little history of the area, and keeping us on time at each location. Highlights were Inch Beach where we could walk down to the water and Slays Head with nice views of the Blasket Islands. Lunch stop was in Dingle which is a nice little town right on the water. Several small restaurants to choose from and Mike did recommend one spot, but I noticed a restaurant called the Boat Yard as we drove in that had picnic tables on a patio. Okay for a light lunch. Sitting outside on the water was the draw here. A number of little shops to occupy you for the rest of the stop here. Dingle has beautiful scenery and I mentioned to the driver that he could have stopped every mile for another photo opportunity. But we did get plenty of pictures in beautiful spots. Not as crowded or commercial as the Ring of Kerry. I can easily recommend this tour.

Great scenery, not so great guide - The scenery was great and there were some interesting stops (beehive houses, lamb petting, gallarus oratory, inch beach and Dingle), but I was looking forward to learning more about the peninsula, its history, culture etc. Unfortunately our driver wasn't particularly knowledgeable and the tour consisted of a rather rambling commentary on what he was seeing, peppered with bad jokes.

Poor use of time and still returned late - Bus driver droned on and on provided little information about sights. Cringey corny jokes. Mentioned he did not believe humans have a role in climate change. Criticized his employers for calling him bec he was running late and we did return more than a half hour late, missed our bus and had to wait more than 2 hrs for the next bus. Wasted time at tourist trap stops would have rather had a bit of time to see Blasket Center. We have taken many many tours, this was well below average even for the price.

Dingle Tour - Terrible - First, I would like to point out that I was raised in such a way that you do not say anything at all unless you can say something nice. Well, on this tour, I have absolutely nothing nice to say. It was strictly a driving tour taken on September 16, 2018. We stopped 4 times in 7 hours and 1 of the stops was only because everyone was complaining about not stopping. We did stop in the Village of Dingle for about 1 1/2 hours including lunch. However, we did not stop at Inch Beach, The Gallarus Oratory & Reasc (in fact we did not even go that far on Slea Head drive), The Blasket Island Visitor Center, Conor Pass or Dun Beag Fort. In addition, the driver and tour guide, although personable, did not even mention the history of the Pennisula. In fact, he did not even drop us off where he picked us up until I mentioned it. To be perfectly honest, I have been on many tours and this is by far the worse tour I have ever been all. In my opinion, I would not recommend this tour to anyone and I know most of the people on the tour feel the same way. Do not waste your money.

Never picked us up - We had booked this tour and also the Ring of Kerry tour. We had gone on the Ring of Kerry tour the previous day, and as we were staying in Dingle itself, the company had confirmed that we could be picked up from our accommodation. They instructed us to wait for pick up at 11:30am. We stood for over an hour, with them never showing up. We now had wasted an entire day, as our plans had consisted of this tour, and by the time we decided we couldn’t wait around any longer, the morning had passed. It wasn’t until we got back to our accommodation that evening that we were told that the bus actually showed up at around 1pm. This is severely disappointing considering we had confirmed via email and face to face with the company that they were able to pick us up at 11:30 from our accommodation. We have sent multiple emails to the company asking what happened and to see if we can receive a refund but haven’t heard back at all. The Ring of Kerry Tour was good, but again, as we were staying in Dingle, we notified them that we had to be back at 5pm sharp to catch the final bus of the day to Dingle. There was no effort made to get us there on time, causing us to spend a small fortune on a taxi back to Dingle. Overall, I am very disappointed.
