Amazing museum, amazing guide! - We went on an internal tour of the museum which was lead by John. It was fantastic! John knows the museum inside and out, presenting the history of Kilkenny and St. Mary's in an engaging and humorous way. All of the staff were kind, and we learned a lot. I'd highly recommend going!

Hidden but a Worthy Find - My Mama and I stumbled upon this museum while exploring Kilkenny before their Saint Patrick’s Day parade. After venturing into Café Nero and having a delicious pastry we wandered into a mysterious courtyard behind the town hall. Lo and behold it was an ancient Catholic Church decommissioned and converted into a magnificent little museum. The displays were phenomenal and meticulously put together. The desk attendants Sherry (I think/hope I remember her name correctly) and John were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They even helped me figure out why my surname (Clark) frequently has an “e” placed on the back of it in this region of Ireland. I had a great conversation with John following our self-guided audio tour. This museum is certainly worth seeing. My only negative remark is that it is a tad steep on days beyond Saint Patrick’s day. 15 pounds per person for a well kept but small museum is a bit too much in my opinion. Regardless of the pricing, I’m leaving 5 stars for the overall experience. :)

Great insight on Kilkenny history - At the time of our tour it was closer to closing time and it was just my wife, my self, and one other couple. John, our guide was amazing. The amount of knowledge dropped on us and added witty humor made the experience very memorable, which brings myself to recommend doing the guided tour over the self guided because in my opinion you miss you on lots of information only reading the plaques along the wall around the museum.

Wow! Hidden gem worth seeing - My husband and I stumbled across this GEM yesterday. Wow! We had no idea what we were walking into.. We had to park in the lot a block down, no parking at the site. Walking up to the beautiful architectural fossil, we could imagine how busy it must of been hundreds of years ago. We arrived and we’re lucky enough to be assigned John for our private tour. John was lively and a fabulous story teller. His history stories were active, lively and he kept you engaged. The museum itself is beautiful with the right amount of historical culture. We were fascinated the entire hour! It’s a wonderful couples date, even good for families. We took a few photos afterwards. We’re still talking about what a truly spectacular time we had here! Worth the small fee, and time. Plan to be wowed!!
