Additional Information

Lemosho route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west. You will begin with a drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate.

Once you are here, you will spend your first two days trekking through the rainforest to Shira ridge. Lemosho is considered to be the most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro. It is our favorite one, because it offers a perfect balance between low traffic, scenic views and a higher summit success (around 80%). Lemosho route is about 70km (42miles) long, from gate to gate.

Unlike the highly popular Machame route which simply brushes the Shira Plateau, Lemosho route goes across the entire plateau, from West to the East in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. The route takes more days to climb, so it offers great acclimatization opportunities.

  • Travelers should have a strong physical fitness level

5 Stars for Bless Africa Tours - My dad and I did the 8 day Lemosho Route with Bless Africa Tours and had an amazing experience. Our guides Ricky and Danny were so much fun and very accommodating. I would highly recommend to request this duo! We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to help us safely reach the summit. They were very experienced guides and very knowledgeable, not just about the safety aspects of high altitude hiking, but of the history and flora and fauna of the mountain. I was very impressed and above anything will remember how our guides and the rest of the team made our trip so much more than reaching the summit. The rest of the team was also amazing including our cook Johnny who made us amazing food and accommodated our special diets, including my dad who is a vegan. Gody, the owner and former porter and guide on the mountain, was amazing, quickly responding to all of our emails and inquiries. He was very thorough and I knew before we arrived that everything would go smoothly. He put together such an amazing group of people and I knew he had our best interest at heart. I would highly recommend going with Bless Africa Tours.

Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience with Bless Africa Tours - My boyfriend and I (a group of 2) summited Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route, and we had a wonderful experience with Bless Africa. Our tour guides, Ricky and Danny, were very helpful and motivating throughout the entire journey. For example, they carried our day packs when we were sick and/or tired. My boyfriend was sick and craving Coca-Cola. Our guides coordinated with Bless Africa to bring cold medicine and Coca-Cola for us during the re-supply, and we were very impressed with how they took the initiative to maximize our comfort during the climb. Every night, Ricky and Danny would give us the most motivating talks, which really helped us gain confidence and set a positive mindset. Our chef, Johnny, made delicious meals for us every day. There were great varieties of food, including fresh fruits, protein/meat, and vegetables. Every meal was delicious.

Our porters were also great, and we are impressed by how speedy and efficient they are. Our tent is always set up before we arrive at the campsite. The porters took great care of our belongings. Gody (manager) did an amazing job putting together a strong team of guides, porters, & chef. He is very responsive and communicates clearly. My boyfriend and I are really glad that we chose Bless Africa. They went above and beyond our expectations. Bless Africa played a significant and crucial role in our success. We are honestly not sure if we would have had a successful summit if we have gone with a different tour company. Thank you Bless Africa for this wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Kilimanjaro Summit - I really enjoyed this trip, particularly because of their stellar service and their motivation to get us all to the top of the mountain. Food was spectacular - it was always hot and fresh, which made our days much better. They were extremely supportive in keeping us positive and ensuring that we had a smooth and safe hike up the mountain. They were also very accommodating, especially by making sure if you needed any extra assistance or more porters. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a fun and safe adventure - and to cross Kilimanjaro off your bucket list! Thank you for a great trip! Princess Dee xoxo

Would not do it any differently - The bless africa team went above and beyond to ensure our Kilimanjaro journey was not only successful but also enjoyable. Having guides and staff who treat you like family and go the extra mile, such as carrying day packs and providing additional support on the summit push night, truly made a phenomenal difference. A well-organized and attentive team, including guides like Danny, Rick, and Frank, as well as the chef and porters, contributes significantly to the overall experience of such a challenging adventure. Team's dedication and attention to detail left us with a sense of satisfaction and made our climb more like a vacation than just a mountain climb. The fact that the team took care of every detail, from hot food, ensuring all aspects of our camp were in orde and making every possible attempt at getting us to the summit reflects their commitment to customer satisfaction. I would not do this any differently or with any other tour company.

The most flexible and support crew! - The Bless Africa team make you feel right at home with their warm hospitality and little touches to boost morale. They took care of almost everything from picking us up from the airport to dropping us off back to the airport after climbing the mountain. Through out the climb the team prepared delicious food and subtle luxuries that we didn't not expect on the mountain. The main highlight was the super encouraging and supportive nature of the entire team to want you to summit. It was truly a remarkable experience!!

Summit Kilimanjaro with the best! - I had 8 days on the mountain and 4 days safari. From my first enquiry I knew these guys were the best. Gody answered all my silly questions regardless of the time of day. The accomodation provided in the tour was really nice, no complaints at all. I had a private tour so the whole crew was dedicated to me and my assent. Danny was an exceptional guide. He was knowledgeable and perceptive and I couldn’t have done it without him. The food cooked by Johnny on the mountain was above and beyond what I expected. Obedi took such good care of me. And held my hand when I needed it. Jackson made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and he and Zawadi were amazing when I needed them the most. And Eli and Moses carried the loads of gear. I have so much respect for these men. After a days rest I was off on safari with Joseph. One of the most incredible experiences, you just can’t describe how amazing these places and the animals that live in them are. Trip of a lifetime. Lots of tour companies on the mountain, but these guys are the best!

Successfully Summited Kilimanjaro Thanks to Bless Africa - I had an amazing experience with Bless Africa, where I did a two-day safari and eight-day Lemosho climb. This is a locally-owned and run company that has thought through every detail the climb and safari experience to make sure our group enjoyed our time on the mountain and successfully summited Kilimanjaro - which we all did. Bless Africa went above and beyond to keep us informed about the hiking plan and answer any questions/concerns we had; make sure were healthy and well fed with amazing meals and snacks throughout the day (everything from omelettes, to fish curry, to delicious soups and local cuisine); and ensure we were prepared with the right gear and mindset for the day ahead. Could not recommend them enough.

Strongly Recommended: Group excursion (8-day Lemosho Route, 2-day safari to Tarangire and Ngorongro Crater) - Don't think twice before choosing Bless Africa for your Kilimanjaro climb. My friend, who had previously summited Kilimanjaro, referred me and 8 friends to Bless Africa and I'm so grateful he did. Below are my top reasons (in no particular order) for choosing Bless Africa: 1. HIGHLY EXPERIENCED GUIDES: Our head guide had summited Kilimanjaro nearly 100 times and had an over 90% success rate guiding others to the peak. Our 3 assistant guides had similarly summited dozens of times and had seen it all. They knew exactly how to pace our group, sustain our morale, and respond to signs of altititude sickness. I knew we were in good hands and guaranteed to make it to the summit thanks to their excellent experience, support, and sincere desire to see us succeed. (Thank you Danny, Light, Jo, and Kifaro - we wouldn't have made it without you!) 2. LOCAL FAMILY BUSINESS: Bless Africa was started by 2 former Tanzanian porters/guides - also a lovely married couple - Gody and Saumu (who was the first woman certified to guide tours up Kilimanjaro). The family business touch was evident at every turn. Gody personally picked us up at the airport, and both Gody and Saumu visited us before and after our trip to wish us well and invite feedback. They were also incredibly responsive as we prepared for our trip. Saumu responded to all my emails within 2 hours and also set up a WhatsApp chat. 3. CARING GUIDES AND PORTERS: Kilimanjaro is definitely a physically and emotionally challenging endeavor, so the sincere care our guides and porters showed for our morale and welfare was critical. On summit night more than ever, my whole group recognized how lucky we were to have chosen Bless Africa. Our guides and porters sang to us and flitted around shouting encouragement, while also monitoring our health and morale, for six hours straight. There were hundreds of people summiting but I didn't hear any other groups receiving the same support. We were also woke every morning by Joseph and Ombedi (our wonderful waiters) with hot tea and coffee, and every morning and night given a basin of hot water to wash ourselves. These little joys add up when embarking on one of the most physically trying experiences of your life. 4. FAIR TREATMENT OF PORTERS: Gody and Saumu's reputations as former porters and guides precede them. Bless Africa, therefore, attracts the best porters and guides who know that Bless Africa will pay and treat them fairly. I can personally attest I saw porters from other groups not properly equipped for the climb, but Bless Africa's staff all had hiking boots and warm attire. They also enforced a transparent process for tipping whereby we announced the tips out loud to everyone and passed around a paper with the amounts written out to ensure every porter and guide understood and received 100% of their intended tip. 5. AMAZING FOOD: John and Peter, our chefs, cooked better meals than I cook at home! We looked forward to every meal and were fed more than we could handle, ensuring we were strong and healthy for each day's hike. Can't tell you how much the food boosted our morale! 6. WOMEN GUIDES AND PORTERS: We had both a female guide and a female porter which seemed to be a real rarity on the mountain. Saumu makes an effort to bring women into the business, which makes Bless Africa stand out from other companies. 7. KNOWLEDGEABLE SAFARI GUIDES: We used a 2-day safari to adjust to the time difference and saw hundreds of elephants, 8 lions, 3 black rhinos, a leopard, a cheetah and her cubs, dozens of giraffes, and hundreds of zebras, wildbeests, and baboons. The guides' love of animals was infectious; every question we threw at them, they answered with great detail and passion. 8. COST EFFICIENT: My group and I did a cost comparison between Bless Africa and about 6 other tour groups. Bless Africa offered the lowest price (4 guides, 2 cooks, 26 porters). Gear rental was quality and also very affordable.

Couldn't be happier we chose Bless Africa - I had a fantastic time with Bless Africa! My group of friends visited Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro and do a safari. From the moment we landed, Bless Africa was there to pick us up, give us water, and take us to our hotel. They arranged a fantastic two-day safari to Tarangire & Ngorongoro. The vehicles were comfortable, the lunches tasty, the views incredible, and the guides deeply knew the animals. Our 8-day Lemosho hike up Kilimanjaro was just as wonderful. Lead guide Danny and assistant guides Joe, Faroo, and Lightness welcomed us to the mountain with open arms. I felt incredibly well taken care of and enjoyed learning Swahili from them. The tents were roomy, the food delicious, and the hiking pace perfect for a large group like ours. They even easily accommodated two diet restrictions (one vegetarian and a tomato allergy). The summit night was my favorite part: our guides and a select group of porters led us up the mountain with song and dance, even in the thin air! No other groups around us had so much energy. Every person in our group summited (9 total), and it was all thanks to Bless Africa. I am so happy that we hired Bless Africa rather than a large corporation to be our guides—it was a much more personal and meaningful experience for me. Company owners Gody and Saumu, who were both porters and guides in the past, treat all their staff with care and respect. I recommend Bless Africa wholeheartedly and will book with them again if I return to Tanzania!
