Highlights
- Galway Cookery Classes - Irish stew is renowned throughout the world and was recently listed by The Lonely Planet in their Top 50 food experiences. I give guests a hands on experience of preparing and cooking this healthy and nutritious dish using my own traditional recipe handed down to me from my grandmother. Guests will learn which vegetables to use and what cut of lamb gives best results. And at the end you get to have lunch with the finished product.
If you’re driving from Galway city to Kilcolgan village take the first left after O’Donoghues Bar, you’ll get to a T junction after a couple of kilometers, take the left and then take the first right after you drive over the bridge. I’m the last house in this estate and have a purple door.

Please use google maps to find the location, typing in our eircode (area code), 'H91 RHH9', people often get lost if they use the car satnav. Make sure it is Dunkellin, KILCOLGAN, Galway. If you don't have a car you can get a bus out from Galway city and I can pick you up at the stop in Kilcolgan.

Amazing cooking class. Don’t miss - Wow! Kate is an amazing host —and the cooking class was 3 hours and a blast. We even gathered herbs from her garden to make the lamb stew. We did 3 variations of brown bread. And the pear scones were delicious and moist-dry and delicious with Irish butter. No clotted crème in Ireland. These are not Starbucks scones. Just mouthwatering. Kate is a hoot and one of our favorite things we did in Ireland!

Delicious Stew with an Amazing Host - Kate’s cooking experience was an amazing opportunity for our family. You must book with her if you are near the Galway area! The food, conversation, and laughter was memorable for our family and we appreciate the personal connection that Kate made with each of us. Try the stew it’s delicious! - Kate and Valentina were wonderful and welcoming hosts as well as their pup CoCo. They helped us make the advertised soup and bread and allowed us to join in with the next group doing scones. They allowed us to sit in Kate’s beautiful garden and eat up the stew, bread, and scones we made. Great day! My grandmother was ecstatically happy. Thanks Kate and Valentina.

Lovely time! - What a lovely time with Kate and Valentina. We had a lovely time from beginning to end: it was great to pick herbs from the garden to toss into the stew. It would have been fun if the timing had worked out where we could try our own stew, but we were running a bit late so that was our fault. We got to make 3 kinds of bread, which well made up for it: spelt bread, brown bread, and blueberry scones. Highly recommend the experience!

What a Fun Cooking Class! - Kate is the best!! She really makes it fun to learn how to make Brown Bread and Stew. We also opted for making some scones as well. What a feast and now with recipes in hand, we can recapture all the things we made and remember the fun we had.

Charming and authentic - Charming…Kate, her home, Cocoa (her dog) and of course the food we made and devoured! Celebrating our 30yr anniversary and finding a uniquely Irish experiences like this make it all the more memorable. Thanks to Kate, Anna and Cocoa for a great meal, a lesson in cooking Irish Stew and making us feel at home.

Better stew than what most restaurants make - Kate was great at making me relax and not rush through the prep process. She recommended some kitchen gadgets to buy as well, to take guessing out of the cooking and make it simpler for novices. It was an overall pleasant experience, not to mention the stew was incredibly delicious, yum!!!

Wonderful Authentic experience - I took my daughter to Ireland for her 21st birthday, and she always dreamed of making an in home meal Irish meal like this. The experience was everything we hoped for and more. Kate was so hospitable and charming. Her home was lovely and cozy and I love that she already had her Christmas tree up. It added to the holiday feeling and the drive out to her home was beautiful. The stew was also delicious and we have made her recipe of stew and scones here in America (California) now a few times. I would recommend this experience to anyone traveling towards the Galway area.

Highlight of our Ireland trip - Kate is so delightful
We not only made stew as we had booked but basically an entire meal. We then sat at her kitchen table and enjoyed it with her. We shared stories, laughing the entire time. She made us feel like instant family.
This is a must do for everyone!
