Additional Information

Situated in Eastern Rwanda, bordering Tanzania, is the Akagera national park. The park is presently under the excellent management of African parks, who have made significant contributions to its conservation. Historically, there were frequent clashes between human inhabitants and the park, however, this issue was addressed through the erection of fences around a part of the park, as well as introducing community tours. These tours encourage visitors to explore the local communities and support them financially. Akagera national park stands out as the only Savannah park in Rwanda and boasts a variety of mammalian species which includes Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and recently, Black Rhinos from South Africa have been added to the mix, designating Akagera national park as a big 5 park akin to its status several years ago. The park also hosts a vast array of bird species across its various habitats - woodland, swamps, lakes and Savannah.
