Chausath Yogini Temple - A Yogini is a female practitioner of yoga or a spiritual teacher in Hinduism. This temple features 64 distinct shrines, each dedicated to a different yogini. The central shrine is the largest, housing a grand idol of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati on Nandi the bull. Constructed primarily of granite, each yogini statue is uniquely posed and exquisitely carved.
Kandariya Mahadev Temple - Designed and constructed by the Chandela King Vidyadhara in the early 11th century, the Kandariya Mahadev Temple was built after Gazni Mahmud’s invasion and destruction of the region. The main attraction at the entrance is a sacred Makara Torana that captivates visitors. Inside, the temple features intricately designed hallways, with the main hall housing the primary deity, Lord Shiva, in the form of a linga. A beautiful painting of Lord Shiva’s four-footed incarnation, Chatuspada, is also present.
Lakshmana Temple - Constructed by the esteemed Chandela ruler, King Yashovarman, in the 10th century, this temple’s main idol is Lord Vaikuntha, depicted with three heads and four arms. This impressive stone sculpture is accompanied by the lion avatar, Narasimha, and the boar avatar, Varaha, of the deity.
