Highlights
  • 8G3G+JF Mountain Point - If you imagine Alaska as a place to get away from it all and enjoy the serenity of the wilderness then Orca Cove sea kayaking is the tour for you! The entire 3 hour experience is on the water. A 20 minute fast boat ride is an excellent way to escape the crowds in Ketchikan and potentially spot marine life before we even get to the kayaks. When we arrive at our 57’ catamaran in Orca Cove you’ll meet your guide and get geared up to paddle the beautiful islands and coastal coves. The true highlight of the Orca Cove tour is exploring the secluded coves and rainforest islands up close and personal from sea kayaks with your knowledgable guide, although the snack of local smoked salmon and hummus from our favorite local cafe’ on board the mothership after paddling is ranked a close second by many of our guests.
After paddling and snacking, enjoy another boat ride back to town. Keep your eyes peeled!

Great experience away from the crowds - Great tour with fantastic guides. Hard to fault the team for our tour - they adpated the schedule to ensure we could spend time watching a humpback that was in the area before we got to the kayaking section. Whilst we didn't see huge amounts of wildlife whilst in the kayaks, our guide was very knowledgable and entertaining and the return to the "mothership" in the cove whilst we waited for our return to Ketchikan included some very tasty snacks and hot/cold drinks. Highly recommended.

Abundant beauty! - This was such a great day kayaking on the ocean! Almost like being on a lake-amazing. Devon stopped the boat on the way out to the kayak so we could see some Dalls Porpoises that came up to us. Once we got to the catamaran Matt took over as our kayak guide. He took us on a great kayak trek of the local islands. So personable! The smoked salmon snack after was delicious too! We were hungry :) Thank you for a great first sea kayaking experience Devon and Matt!

Calm waters and great guides! - I was nervous about sea kayaking but there was no reason to be! The tour is in an area that is well protected and the water was very calm. Devin, Matt and Spencer were all very friendly and made sure we had a great time! Spencer was our guide and his deep knowledge about the local ecosystem really added to our experience! We saw a bunch of interesting creatures and learned a lot! I can't recommend this tour enough!

Amazing tour! - This was a great tour, even for people not experienced with kayaking. Devin, Matt, and Jacob (tour guide) were all super accommodating and friendly. Jacob was very knowledgeable about marine life and Ketchikan history. It was a small tour with only 6 people, which was great for getting a break from big crowds. Would recommend to anyone!

Great day kayaking with friends! - Thank you Devin, Forest and the rest of your crew! First off...Devin contacted us (as we were doing the excursion as part of a cruise) to let us know that the day we booked didn't line up with the day our ship would be in port! (A great catch on his part!!) He worked with us to set up a time (on the correct day) that worked for us and our travel buds. The equipment was top notch! We were ferried out to their staging vessel in a brand new boat (very nice). The weather was perfect. The six of us spent about 1 1/2 hours kayaking with Forest before heading back to the staging vessel for snacks & drinks. Devin dropped us off "in town" so we could "shop" our way back to the ship. (This was our second time booking with Orca Cove Sea Kayaking)

Magic in Alaska - Mat and Devon were amazing. Orcas Cove is a good choice for sea kayaking if you’re a beginner. You fully get the open Sea kayak experience, but with less waves and less wind. We saw Eagles, a variety of rare starfish, even a humpback whale! Try to match the magic of that next to your kayak. A wonderful experience on the quiet of the ocean with no other tourists in sight. Highly recommend
