Well Worth Doing - We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our guide was not only very well informed, but he enhanced our tour by sharing many personal experiences of growing up and living in the culture. When I asked what a smokehouse looked like, he pulled out his camera and showed a picture of the interior of his mother's, filled with strips of salmon. With only 6 people we had plenty of oppoutunity to get additional information whenever we wanted it.

colorful and magical adventure - Due to the cancellation of our previous booking for the ALASKA FISHING & WILDERNESS DINING, we spontaneously opted for this cultural tour, which unexpectedly turned into an incredible journey. From the moment we stepped into the forest, everything came to life under Dan’s rich knowledge and expertise. Berries, trees, and totem poles resonated with each other in his explanations, creating a vivid, three-dimensional experience—it felt like stepping into a 4D movie. Dan’s own fascinating life stories added an extra layer of magic, making our only day in KETCHIKAN colorful and enchanting. Apart from providing incredibly diverse and informative content, Dan’s friendliness, patience, and willingness to go the extra mile not only made Alaska relaxing, refreshing, and pristine in its natural beauty but also infused it with a strong sense of humanity. Highly recommended.

Excellent non commercial no hard sell recommend - Escorted by Dan. A great guide providing insight in-house local indigenous culture Highlight was the wTotem museum with his explanation of the significance of items More particularly how the ideneous family are able to live using natures bounty and a summary of how he tribal system works and their battles with bureaucracy/ a timely reminder of the need to vote in Australia’s constitutional referendum on Oct 14 Only comment is need to look for Clan. THE Best Tour in Alaska - We took a tour with Dan from Clan House Tours in Ketchikan. It was the best tour we did, anywhere in Alaska. Only 11 people max. and a small enough van to get us everywhere. This particular day, we weren't lucky enough to see eagles, bears or whales, but the trip was still top notch. Being part of a native family gave Dan great incite about all things Alaska. He was very knowledgeable when we went to the Totem pole museum and was able to explain many things about totem poles that were not obvious. This was the best tour we didn't in Alaska, and, the least expensive.

Disappointed - Very average tour. Didn’t get to see much and there wasn’t much commentary. Van was small and cramped, luckily there was only two other people in the van. I don’t recommend this tour, there are other better options.

Save your money! - The cultural immersion portion of the tour was stopping at a museum where you could read about the native culture. Beyond the museum we stopped at the salmon ladder (which we had already walked to on our own earlier in the day), a stop at a roadside waterfall, a stop at a roadside creek to observe any wildlife (only birds), and a stop at a roadside area overlooking a bay (only wildlife was again birds). Very disappointed in this tour! Save your money, choose another option.
