The best short safari break! - If you don’t have much time go on safari in Kenya, do yourself a favor and book this excursion. Tsavo East nature sanctuary is a magical place, and Salt Lick Lodge a truly special hotel. In 36 hours, we saw literally hundreds of zebras and elephants, so many giraffes, plus were lucky enough to spot a few lions! As well as many, many other species. Special thanks to our guide, Kasimo. He is super nice and we felt welcomed from the moment we met him. Everything went so smoothly during the trip, and he is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and all the animals that we saw. Would highly recommend to have him as your guide!

A wonderful experience - We had a great time on this trip. The communication with the tour company was good but a little slow. We came by cruise ship so access to the Mombasa Cruise Terminal is controlled and we misunderstood that we needed to meet our guide by the entrance to the cruise port. Once we got in contact with our guide, Joseph, on the morning of our tour, we took a taxi to the port gate and he was waiting for us there. The tour vehicle was great! The vehicle had air conditioning, which was a wonderful surprise. Joseph did his very best to minimize the drive time but traffic was extremely heavy in both directions. It took 5 hours each way to get from/to the Mombasa port gate to/from Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary with one short comfort stop. Most of the time we were traveling on the main road from Mombasa to Nairobi with many many trucks, buses, motorcycles, safari vehicles, and the occasional private car. The road did not have any lines separating the lanes, which worked to the advantage of the smaller vehicles since they could pass the trucks whenever an opening appeared. Once we arrived at the Taita Hills Reserve, we went first to the Taita Hills Safari Lodge and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Then we headed to the Saltlick Safari Lodge to check into our rooms and take a short rest before our first game drive. Our rooms were simple but more than adequate and nicely decorated including bug netting around the bed. The ceiling fan above the bed really helped move the air. We could look out the window to see various birds and other wildlife near the water hole. Being up on stilts was so special since we could enjoy viewing the wildlife from any place in the lodge without interfering with their behavior. The meals at Saltlick Lodge were excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive. The game drives with Joseph were amazing! We all helped out with the search for wildlife but Joseph had the best eyes. And he knew the names of all the birds and beasts that we found. He was very accommodating while we took pictures and asked many questions. It was sometimes hard to hear him since he was facing forward while driving. In all, we did 3 game drives and each time we saw animals that we hadn’t seen before. We only saw one of the Big 5 but we were satisfied with the experience since we saw so many different animals including many birds. Joseph even managed to deliver us directly to the cruise terminal where our ship was docked even though he didn’t have a pass. The port security told him to stop on his way back out so I hope he didn’t get in any trouble. That was above what we expected and appreciated the effort. I would recommend this tour company, this tour and especially our tour guide, Joseph, for anyone who has limited time to see the area. It was well worth the drive.

Wonderful experience at saltlick - It was a wonderful second time trip at saltlick,had a nice stay with my family and we all enjoyed. The rooms were super clean thanks to the room attendants. Food was amazing i really recommend the chefs for job well done,not forgetting the waiters isaac and Nicholas you really doing a good job keep it up. Thanks to everyone whom i interacted with you r really doing a wonderful work to keep the standards, hope to see you again.

Great expirience. - Excellent lodge. Great views of the animals, not only from the safari vans, but also from the lodge itself. Great food and very good rooms. Recommended.
