Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve - At 8:00 AM, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Nairobi city center or Westlands and begin the journey to Maasai Mara. The drive includes a stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, offering a stunning view of the Rift Valley floor. Visitors will have a 10-minute stop to admire the semi-active Mt. Longonot and two dormant volcanoes, Mt. Suswa and Mt. Margaret. Arrival is scheduled in time for lunch, followed by hotel check-in. At 4:00 PM, embark on a two-hour game drive in the Mara Reserve, concluding at 6:00 PM. Return to the camp for a delicious buffet dinner and a restful night.

This day is crucial as it offers the chance to spot the Big Five, particularly the elusive big cats. The itinerary includes a visit to the renowned Mara River, where the great migration occurs, and a guided tour by rangers to observe Nile crocodiles and hippo families. A picnic lunch under a tree in the park, overlooking the expansive landscapes, adds to the experience. The Mara is home to one of nature’s most spectacular events: the great migration. This annual movement of millions of wildebeest and zebras from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture is followed by savanna predators such as lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures.

Lake Nakuru - After breakfast at the camp, guests will drive to Nakuru, arriving in the late evening. Check-in and overnight stay at Lanet Matfam or a similar hotel.

Lake Nakuru to Nairobi

Lake Nakuru National Park - An early breakfast is followed by a 7:00 AM departure to the park. This small park is home to magnificent, rare white rhinos, part of the Big Five. There is also a chance to see pink flamingos. The game drive lasts three hours, after which guests will embark on a three-hour drive back to Nairobi, arriving around 3:00 PM.
