From ancient streets and pilgrim inns to the grand Cathedral’s Precincts, our tours will take you on a historic journey, narrating tales and portraying the city’s transformation over the ages.
Established in 1948, Canterbury Tourist Guides Ltd is a standalone company dedicated to delivering top-notch guided walking tours in Canterbury. Our tours are the city’s official tours, and they are the only tours granted access to the splendid Cathedral’s Precincts.
All our guides possess city Green Badges, having successfully completed the validated training program and passed the relevant tests administered by the Institute of Tourist Guiding.
- Carer Policy: We extend our concessionary rate to guests with a disability. Free entry is offered to carers accompanying those with a disability. To book a daily tour online, please book your concessionary place. Let us know you will be bringing a carer with you (no carer ticket will be required on arrival)

Daily Tour: Please meet your Guide in the Buttermarket, outside the main Cathedral Gate. Guides wear a red sash. Please note you may finish your tour in a different location (usually the High Street).

Very informative and entertaining - The city tour with Pauline was entertaining and informative. The history of Canterbury came alive. Despite the rain and cold, it was a successful city tour. I would gladly do it again any time.

Wonderful guide - Bob was our guide. He was very engaging and knowledgeable. There was a lot of content, delivered in an entertaining way and Bob was able to answer all of our questions.
We really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend it to anyone considering a tour.

Engage with history - Dave was punctual and friendly. We joined a group of 9 in total, so it was easy to hear him and follow him in the crowded streets. He was entertaining and knowledgeable and read our group's interests well. He patiently answered questions and added all sorts of interesting stories. Some he admitted were legend, but most were true. I highly recommend the tour and, if possible, ask for David as your guide.

Great 90 minutes! - Canterbury Tour. Very good, interesting tour, stories very clearly heard in spite of street noise! Added bonus for tour ticket holders is a discounted admission to the Canterbury Roman museum.
