Additional Information

Every nation boasts its unique natural wonders. In Kazakhstan, we are plentiful. A prominent and gorgeous natural point of interest is Charyn Canyon.

Charyn Canyon is a distinct natural creation, which, through the enduring process of sedimentary rock weathering, has evolved into freestanding rocks, pillars, and towers. Charyn Canyon, a natural emblem, is composed of sedimentary rocks that are approximately 12 million years old. The most enticing location for visitors is the ‘Valley of the Castles.’ Nestled within the canyon is an ash tree grove, home to ancient species surviving from the glacial period. Only one other grove like this exists, and it’s in North America. The diverse landscape of Charyn Canyon contributes to a wide range of plant and animal life. While Charyn Canyon may be smaller than the Grand Canyon (Colorado’s Grand Canyon) in North America, its ‘Valley of Castles’ is unrivaled in its beauty.
