Hawaiian History in Song Dance - I went to Luau Kalamaku to see Luau Kalamaku on Kauai!! I decided to get the VIP special; went to a private dinner at Kilohana Plantation before the show. Before we had our private dinner, we took a train ride of the property, showing what they grow like sugar cane, fruits, and coffee. Going to the private dinner, the food was magnificent; The pork wonton started off this culinary experience, then we had a caesar salad. Our main course we had pork, braised rib on top of some jasmine rice and sweet Hawaiian potatoes and some veggies. Now to the Luau in the main building. The luau was in the main pavilion where the majority of people were seated, luckily I was in the second row so I got a great view of the show. Speaking of the show, it was exemplary. The luau represents the history of Hawaii and how the native people came to the Islands through dance and music from Tahiti to Hawaii!! Highly recommend coming here and doing the Manor House Experience before watching the show.

Can't recommend enough. - The Plantation Owner's Dinner was excellent, and the show was wonderful. The smiles on the faces of the performers were real, and the pleasure they took in sharing their art was evident. Can't recommend enough.

Luau Kalamaku - We did the premier seating where you get a three course meal with a delicious dessert! Plus, we received a complimentary glass of champagne! Everyone there was very friendly, dinner was great & we really enjoyed the show at the Luau!

This was a fun evening that we are glad we attended. - This was a fun evening. We were looking for a medium sized venue for a luau and this fit the bill nicely. Our table and most others were close to the performers who were spirited and appeared to be genuinely enjoying what they were doing. The story line was easy to follow and depicted well with words and dance. They had an open bar which was certainly a bonus. We would have rated it higher if the buffet was a little more interesting (okay but not spectacular) and the luau entrance was more inviting. The presentation of Leis was not great. Two people not in Hawaiian dress simply handed a lei to you while in the picture line, and that was a bit like a cattle call. Overall the whole experience was good but could have been better with a little more attention to detail.

Not worth the price NCL charged - We paid $260 each for this luau with NCL on Pride of America. The description said there would be a pig roast. There was not. The cruise excursion desk botched our reservation. We were given tickets that belonged to another couple. When we went to get the correct tickets we were put in the second group to leave and we were assigned a table that didn't exist. This same experience was $100 less per person through other booking sources. Food served was nothing special. The food on the ship was better. The show was good. Overall I would not recommend this luau.

Very pricey and food just ok. - We opted for the more expensive dinner package. Food was good but not remarkable. Service was very good. Drinks are not included here. The luau was more of an opera / theater experience in a large indoor venue. Not my cup of tea. The “open bar” was pre mixed mai tai and little else. It was pricey for what you got. Find a less expensive luau and maybe on a beach.
