Additional Information

Luau Kalamaku has been a welcoming hub for tourists in Kauai since 2007. Known as the only Hawaii luau presentation executed “in-the-round,” it ensures the stage is viewable from all angles. Experience the miraculous extraction of the pig from the customary imu (underground oven) along with the fun of a hula lesson. Visit the craft exhibition showcasting remarkable creations by local craftsmen on the extensive lawn. Relish a variety of delectables from the buffet, that offers local and well-known dishes, and sip a Mai Tai from the bar. The main performance elucidates the fascinating tale of the ancient Hawaiian lore of Kalamaku, ‘offspring of the new territory.’ With a combination of amusement, fright, allure, and fire, a fresh heritage is born, inheriting the priceless characteristics of their forefathers. The drama-based luau spectacle concludes with an outstanding fire dream, featuring fire poi balls and customary fire knife dancing.

This Luau is very... - This Luau is very worthwhile! This is a huge venue seating lots of people comfortably with a large stage for the show. It has a huge covered area, and complementary bar service. The buffet was reasonable and the Hawaiian dancing and fire show were well done. I highly recommend.

A definite worthwhile part of a visit to beautiful Kauai. - Totally enjoyed experiencing this Luau Kalamaku in Kauai with family. Endless delicious Mai Tai’s and food. The buffet had so many delectable dishes. I recommend trying a bit of them all. The performance presentation of the ancient ancestral journey to the beautiful islands of Hawaii was very beautiful and moving. Also picked up some beautiful buys from some of the local artists/craftsmen who had their works displayed and for sale on the grounds. So much better than just buying all of your” take homes” from only the souvenir shops where everything starts to look the same. This was an overall great experience that I highly recommend while in Kauai.

Great Decision! - Very well done, glad we chose this one! Pros: - Organized process - Great ‘story telling’ - Beautiful pre-show as well as the show itself - Lots to do on the grounds as you wait for the show Cons: - Buffet was ‘meh’ - Sign in the buffet line said to ask your server if you wanted to try the poi, I asked him and he said was on the buffet (it wasn’t), lol. Told him about the sign, said he’d check but seemed to have forgotten. - They say no bad seats, but we were really far away and couldn’t see a lot Tips: - If you can swing it, pay for the dinner at the Gaylord. Looked amazing - Pay for the Gold/better seats! - Arrive early and stand in line. You’re assigned a table, but if you’re first at the table, you can pick your seat/vantage point

Good show, poor food - The show itself was good. The train ride around the plantation was informative. However, the food was subpar buffet food.

Not recommended - Food is not good. It was dark you can't see what food they were serving. The open bar has limited choices, poor quality wine, the bartender is not welcoming, too many people, crowded congested, we were seated far, too noisy, the show is nothing compared to the polynesian center, overall not recommending this at all. Not worth the money we paid for
