Food, History and fun in Lihue! - This was a really fun tour. Everyone was enthusiastic and had a good time. We were not familiar with Lihue. We were able to try new places and learn some interesting history about the island. Susan our guide was fun and was able to share stories of the islands. We enjoyed it so much we signed up for another tour with Susan. This time in Hanapepe.

Great Tour - Met our host Susan at the Java Kai for our first tasting. Here we enjoyed kalua pork sandwich and it was yummy! Walked around the corner for a Kombucha tasting which were all wonderful and nothing like the bottled ones from home. Off Tiki Tacos with a choice of steak, organic chicken, fish or vegetable - huge taco that just awesome. Went down the street for a taste of a Kenji Burger made famous by Guy Fieri - again a treat. Ended our trip at Wailua Shave Ice which was NOT what I had ever experienced. Loved it. Susan shared quite a bit of local history and stories with us as well as the history behind our food stops. It was a TON of food but thoroughly enjoyed it, Susan and the others I. Our tour group! Would definitely try another one in a different area!

Eating in Lanai north side. - More good food than I had room for. Susan our guide was very helpful and informative. But half the food would have been more than enough.

Mixed Rating for Food Tour - I have a few separate ratings for this tour. First three food stops: 5 Star Last stop (ice cream): 2 Star Guide: 4 Star Value for price: 3 Star Koloa Tour (south side) - The actual food we tasted was very good and different from things we had tried in the past (except the sushi - it was just sushi). The stop at Kickshaws and the pork grilled cheese were great! The fourth stop (basic, generic ice cream store) was less than impressive. Nothing special there, nothing original, just a scoop of ice cream you could get anywhere. It really felt like ‘well we have to get at least one more stop - let’s just get this because it is outside of the previous stop’. It would be MUCH better to skip the ice cream and try one more Koloa restaurant. The overall amount of food was maybe $40, so a tour price of $125 per person was steep for 1.5 hours and three hot food tastes.

Not for me, mediocre - Not really for me. We stopped at 3 places and most were pretty basic food for anywhere tropical. There wasn’t much in the way of a tour, most of the history was something you could find just reading Wikipedia. If you come with people who can’t walk much it is the tour for you. I didn’t really care much for the guide, topics got very political and not as informed on the history of the islands.

Not worth the money - The guide, Susan, was a great person! Unfortunately the food tour set up overall was below expectations. We only visited 4 places and at each place the food was whatever the staff decided to provide. At the first we had cold, unflavored tofu on seaweed and rice. Unfortunately, it was a horrible start. We then had sushi rolls, which were decent, followed by pork sandwiches, and completed with some ice cream. The overall history that Susan provided, which I enjoy as part of the tour, was a bit all over the place. She certainly tried, but at many times couldn’t remember certain facts or would become distracted with something else. Overall, this tour was not worth the money to us. The retail value of the food provided was about $40 based on the pricing I saw at each place. Rather than spend the money here, I would recommend you wander around the area and stop at multiple places while googling the Hawaiian history. You’ll get more for your money and be able to taste far more food. The atmosphere was not worth the added cost.

Disappointed - Apparently our tour was double booked with another group with twice the amount of people and the tour guide was caught off guard. It was very disappointing for the amount of money we paid versus the tour we received.

What’s a horrible food... - What’s a horrible food tour? She took us to a sports bar and it was more gift shopping and a political than anything.
